I really like the map. But i think its to small. I think the map must be bigger and when you reached the end, then you would came from the other side, like it where a round World. I can imagine, this would be really cool.
The problem is, the map is custom-made, not procedurally (randomly with some direction) generated. So it'd be a lot of effort to expand. I hope they make new or expanded maps as DLC if they don't have time to include many more areas before release (well, if they offered it as a free upgrade, say, Subnautica 1.1 or 1.2 update, I wouldn't argue!)

With the size of their team and their limited resources, it'd be better they focused on what's already there than work on pushing outwards. There's still a few "Unassigned" biomes that can be filled in, and when in doubt they could always carve out some more caves.
Sometimes I do wish the area immediately outside of the existing map was randomly generated... A sort of abyssal plain seafloor that's gloomy and almost perpetually dark except for some possible bioluminescence (And not to the extent the Deep Grand Reef is hah!) and the terrain and major features would be shuffled with each new game... THEN beyond that would be the true dropoff into the void. It'd look more natural than an abrupt plummet into nothing and it'd provide at least a little extra variety. But, even if it's not randomly generated... I still think such a zone that circles the map and provides a more gradual transition into the Void would be nice.
