Cant get in servers

I cant get in servers, it says its downloading a strange mod and retrying?

    Steam was down for a few moments, I had same problem. Should resolve itself.

    Yea, unfortunately not every ns2 server has setup a mod backup server, so they are still subject to steam workshop's wonky maintenance schedules.

    I'm counting 16x "Missing required mod" in 6 hours of operation even with a working modbackup. Picked a random logfile from yesterday.

    When you launch NS2, go into "Mods" and disable that oddly named mod and click restart. Then try loading into a game again.

    TAW servers have backup mod servers.
    /shameless advertisement.

    Sadly it still takes a while to actually download the mod, but it will download.
    And if it cant, it allows you to connect on the older mod its using itself and you can at least connect. :)

    That is NS2+ (812f004 - yes, I know the hex for the most commonly used mods). The Thirsty Onos runs a backup mod server as well as the other mentioned above.
