Disable auto team balance for end game

If you are more then x minutes into the game, maybe 10 by default but server adjustable, and one team only has one resource node then auto team balance should be disabled.

Team balance coming on when one team has obviously lost doesn't add much to the game or make things more far to the losing team, all it does is drag out the end game and allow marines to turtle a little longer.

So most ppl join the winning team after given amount of time? Because that's what would happen in most public games. Let's face it losing in NS2 is often just frustrating.

Maybe he means the thing where players don't spawn if the teams are imbalanced? Not the thing where people can switch teams.

    This is correct.

I believe this is server configurable, but only to have the feature enabled and by how many players.

It is not configurable in the way that I described is it? I don't want to disable auto team balance entirely, early and mid game it helps to keep things even but in the end game when one team has clearly lost it only serves to drag things out.

I don't think this is really necessary as the losing team can vote concede instead of going to the ready room.

From the winning team's perspective however, it can be incredibly frustrating to be stuck in the spawn que.

And I do sort of think, that in the endgame the teambalance loses its function.

Not having the teambalancer enable immediately (which is the default setting) helps.

There is an auto-concede when too many have left...

Well; to be honest auto-balance is more ruining game than helping.

They are many scenarios in witch it's not helping
The commander phase through to help but die. The aliens couldn't kill the PG. Some alien loose hope and quit. -> The commander is stuck in the spawn queue.
The guys who is significant in the game can Onos but is stuck in the queue.
Many times i see the winning team having a hard time to finish the game because of this kind of events.

Disabling it would make things better IMO
    • The game finishes faster. The pain isn't only a matter of pain level but also a matter of time. The more it lasts the more it's boring for both teams especially when everybody know the end of the story before it happens. Better make it quick and then start another game.
    • The pain of asking for people to vote 'surrender'... It wouldn't get to that point nor abuse the surrender vote as it would be quick.
    • It would eventually have a minimum impact on the hive scores of the loosing team. The team with less players is generally the one who lost the big heads. Those players leave fast in order to minimize (or trick) the calculations. If the game ends up in a configuration in which the team with less player is supposed to win without any doubt (big gap). No harm done. The number of player in teams is also another issue with the Hive, but that's another topic.

Well tbh on that commander bit leaving the chair :D A commander does more harm than good by stepping out of the chair and shooting his gun instead of doing the med/ammo/scan/nanoshield/cat thing and also leaving the beacon without a trigger... Not mentioning they can't buy anything useful and are stuck as vanilla marine, because their personal res is nill...
