Failure to Save Game

Bug related to recent update (Seamoth).

After the Seamoth update, I created a new game and played for about 2 hours. I reported two bugs from this session (see Sliding Fabricator and F8 Inoperable). After the 2 hours of play I exited the game to the desktop. I did not experience any other issues with game play, aside from the 2 minor previously reported ones. On re-starting the game about an hour later, I had lost all achievements from the previous 2 hours. Essentially, I was back at the beginning of a new game start. Same start location (I had moved the escape pod) and same start items in the locker.

I had built 2 platforms, 1 t-tube, 1 large room, and 3 solar panels, In the large room I made a fabricator, 7 wall lockers, and an aquarium stocked with 8 fish. All of this was gone. 2 air tanks, a knife, and a builder were in my personal inventory. All gone.

I'll wail for a hot-fix before devoting any more time to the game. There's just no way to know if the game is saved.

Really disappointed, but still love the look of the new update!

Did you actually save and quit? Saving/Loading save games-- has been a working feature for a long time-- so are you sure you saved? The way you wrote, "After the 2 hours of play I exited the game to the desktop. ", makes me seem like you just hit 'quit to desktop' instead of 'save' then hit 'quit to desktop'

Sorry, the game doesnt auto-save. You need to save yourself in the escape menu. If you're playing HARDCORE mode, you need to 'save and quit' as you cant save as-you-play in that hardcore mode.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the game didn't save on exit. I can't recall any other game and application that will just exit the program without saving the data or at least asking the user/player if the data should be saved. Such as in a document application. Hopefully I won't forget in the future.

    Really do <3 the game.
