@Zek a lot of us had been calling for the armory change before uwe put it in, actually.
So was I, but it was very controversial and had a lot of very vocal opponents on the forums. The point I'm trying to make is that the signal to noise ratio on the public forums is not particularly valuable for determining the merit of controversial ideas. So I can fully understand why the CDT would prefer to decide these things internally without putting it to some kind of vote, and they have every right to do so. They do put it on the Trello well before each patch launches and if people feel strongly they know who to complain to.
In particular this sentence is troubling to me: "The CDT is behaving almost like a real game developer, which we hate." The CDT are the real game developers of NS2, and they happen to be made up of volunteers from the NS2 community. That's not the same thing as being elected representatives with an obligation to ask permission from the rest of the community for every controversial change. They're already being just as open with the community about upcoming changes as UWE was, probably moreso.
Woops, delayed reply! Thanks for thinking of me @[AwE]Sentinel - But my time is almost entirely devoted to Subnautica, Combat, and other non-NS2 related UWE stuff. @ItsSuperEffective is definitely the go-to man for NS2 related vids!

Hmm would better fit to ask those questions in one of the cdt clogcasts.
