My vote - Eclipse is the worst map by far. I understand that some folks' mind could be a bit clouded by nostalgia - like a sailor's mind is clouded after the second barrel of grog - but this alien-friendly mess of fugly tunnels and annoying little bridges and underpasses is enough to drive Cthulhu himself raving mad.

No one has suggested this and i think it needs to be pointed out:
People may dislike the map -crates aside- because of the pendulum gameplay that's due to the map's size.
In other words, where any ground gained or lost is exaggeratedly more beneficial or damaging than most other maps.
Because of this, you can essentially tell who is going to win the round much earlier than other maps.
This can create a discouraging mentally behind playing it.. and unfortunately has no solution due to the large picture design of the map.
...Unless ofc your teams are perfectly balanced..

One option would be to cut out sections of hallway between marine start and everything else. Given the winrates so far, shortening the marine walk time to forward positions could only help. The exits from base could end up right at the two hallway splits on either side. Maintenance could use the same treatment to bring it a little more south west, closer to the rest of the map.
People forget that the dominant strategy in pubs in ns1 was to get a forward phase gate asap, and hold it at all costs. This is the strategy for eclipse as well.
It's true now that I find myself avoiding eclipse like the plague IMHO I wish they'd plucked a different map from their repertoire to remake. Am I the only one who remembers tons of marine turtling in ns1 on eclipse? HMGS pointing straight at the 2 entrances from the little chair platform for 30 minutes at a time.
Sure, not every game is like that on eclipse, but for some reason that stigma still sticks with me.
^ This still happens, with the marine turtles... Usually due to half the marines not knowing how to vote concede. However, no competent team would ever intentionally turtle with the objective of winning, which kind of backs up my point that this map seems to be strictly for those that know what they're doing.
to be fair eclipse is my favorite map right now so (of course) i think it is fine.
in my opinion, most gripes about the map are due to marines losing from playing the map ineffectively.
ns2_Eclipse (a bit like ns2_veil) requires marines to play VERY differently than all other ns2 maps.
of course, many times one team is just outplayed and there's no need to "fix" that...or should all rounds carry forward to the next, like planetside2 or the 3-part attack/defend maps in tf2, or anyone else remember the original Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory games?
...but that's totally off topic.
sorry.

I think the tp between marine start and eclipse is too close (if aliens starts eclipse), the game is pretty much won or lost on triad. If aliens hold triad, they can rush marine start too easily.
Eclipse needs some improvements, but I don't consider it totally broken. For the marines who say aliens always win on this map, you are expanding too slowly.
It's my favorite map. This way neither team can have max command structures. And the best part of it is that nano has equal (maybe more) importance as a tp.

Release another map!

I hate it when they make changes to existing maps (docking any1?). Of course that goes away after a few matches.
That always worked in the past, yes.
@coolitic you can quote more than one post at once. You just did a freakin triple post. Just sayin'.
Decent cancelled and releasing Derelict to public unfinished.. perhaps UWE can shed some light on it.
