I used to see 110fps on the main menu and the game was playable at arround 70-80fps (1680 pixels with shadows on). Now it's 80 in main menu and 50fps in game. I haven't changed any settings. I just flushed the cache so the game rebuilt the shaders. Then I tried openGL, dx11, lowering everything down. not much help. any thoughts?

Only one, you still get to play the game, be thankful for that. 50 fps is pretty damn playable. Most people (like me) get stuttering all the time or random crashes.

Maybe you should try DX9, on fullscreen.

This. Other modes were not fixed yet. Please try DX9, Fullscreen, NOT FullscreenWindowed and report back.

I was already playing in DX9 and fullscreen (not windowed).
Due to b254 I disabled r_mt and visual composition for ns2.exe. For the first time, I was enjoying the game and I mean that in both ways; visually and performance wise. I'm not sure if I did the input fix but it was laggy. I got frustrated and turn off the game. Anyways, I can provide more information.

    This is the situation:

(shadows and texture streaming is also on)

Btw, the physx option in general.. What does it do exactly? I haven't noticed any visual difference but maybe it's me. Is it there to improve performance or for additional effects?

AFAIK it did nothing in 254, don't know how it is in 255.

1 restart bumped the menu fps to 110 again. When the patch released, I got 30 fps in menu. I tried everything but there wasn't any improvement. Then I restarted my computer and menu fps was back at 80s. I just restarted again and now it's back 110. I haven't tried playing yet. What's going on here?

Okay it's running smoothly now. The load times are worse compared to b253 though. I'll see if there's a solution for that.
