Graphical Errors

Hello, I recently bought Natural Selection 2 because it reminded me of an age-old game called "Tremulous" ..

My computer meets all the minimum requirements and I set every graphic option on the lowest setting possible .. I recently updated my video card drivers and verified the files with the steam client ..

If anyone else is experiencing this please leave a reply, and if anyone has a solution the insight would be appreciated - Thanks

My compter specs: Windows XP 32 bit, 2 GB of RAM, Intel Xeon CPU (quad core 2.33GHz), NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500 Graphics Card.

Hi there. Your system does not meet the minimum specs for NS2.

The Quadro FX 3500 Graphics Card only has 256MB and NS2 requires a Graphics card with 1GB of Memory. The Quadro is also 7 years old and designed for 3D Applications like 3DSMax or Maya, not gaming.

You can pick up an AMD 7770 which can handle NS2 at 1080p in an acceptable way for ~$120 in Australia.
Your System RAM is also a little low for NS2, you should boost that to at least 4GB, although for NS2 I would recommend an AMD FX 6300 or Intel equivalent(i5 3470) or better and 8GB of DDR3 ram.

The FX 6300 is available for $139 in Australia while the 3470 is $215.
    Here's a chart: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
Determining how good a CPU is for NS2 is a tricky thing, I would recommend the FX 6300 simply because it's so very overclockable, and get a decent cooler for it (Noctua D14 recommended, but the Coolermaster 212 EVO is also good).
Any 600 watt or more 80+ certified power supply from a reputable brand is good enough. ASRock is a decent brand to pick for budget overclocking, gigabyte is too. If the specs look the same and the price is within $5 to $10, get the gigabyte, but you really won't run into issues with the Asrock more than any other brand.

Hope this info gives you a start, I'm more than willing to spend time recommending parts if you want to play NS2 (and other games as well of course) at enjoyable levels.

It runs on my other computer that has the same specs and I know of people with powerful systems that have reported the same issues. Thank you for your research though, it is much appreciated.

I will return one day with a new PC. :)
