Heeeeeeeeeey NS2'ers!
I had the pleasure of being able to visit the guys over at the UWE office while I was in San Francisco earlier this month. Great group of guys, though Brian ignored me during the interview as he was busy playtesting (though we had a great conversation off camera!) lol. Anyway - enjoy!
Also, I had a sit-down chat with Hugh and if you missed it, you can catch that one here on NS2HD's chan:
Cheers!

lol I wished I showcased it a bit longer - there was so much random crap on it hahaha
Does he realise that he can refill the same cup?
After watching the video, the viewer receives a phone call in which a girl's voice announces that the viewer will die in seven days?
Hey bud! I will be! Schedule is up on my Twitch chan
Wish I was allowed to say! Although I *think* I can at least say: "It's cool".
/runs from snip police
But I do hope that UWE goes for an entirely new game engine.
That said, the Spark engine can (and will) evolve and the version they're using when their next project launches may not resemble the current one in any way.
Not to mention if they pull off the Mac and Linux thing they can make even more cash using that engine. Wonder if there will be performance improvements on those platforms. Macs are not exactly known for being super OC'd and powerful cpu wise.
Ok, but aren't they working on upgrading the engine to DX11 level?
red dawg, he supafly
This made me laugh so much harder than I should of.
Good one, good one
I agree, I am 99% sure they will be using Spark for their next game. Obviously an improved or altered version, but Spark none the less.
In my opinion, they now have Spark to a point where they can do something really cool with a future title. Or at least, they have probably learned enough about their tools and the possible future of them to really step up a notch again.
There will obviously be performance issues to deal, but they will probably be able to concentrate on adding more features and play testing before release.
Remember that just over 2 years ago, the pre-order and engine release was what kept them alive. I mean, that was essentially one of the first builds of the engine. We were all basically playing an internal pre-alpha.
I am excited to see what comes next. Personally, I'd like to see the RTS/FPS thing going on still, but I think it would have to be more class based possibly. They really need to come up with a game that removes the RTS learning curve. Perhaps the resource level is somehow unrelated to tech increase, or perhaps you just remove resources entirely and base tech gained on captured res towers. 1 tower = tier 1 tech, 2 towers = tier 2... etc.
As nice as NS1/2 is, with all the changes etc, you just can't design a tutorial or tutorial system based on changing parameters. RTS has it easy, because you don't have the human factor of players. Rather, just maths vs maths assaulting one another on the screen.
Explaining movement mechanics that might change from build to build is a waste of time and resources.
anyway,
thanks for sharing reddog, was fun.
Hey, here's an idea: do highlights of failures of your casts. Bloopers!
