This won't scare me, I used to play Q1 without mouse.
I have to admit that I tried as well, since I was coming from duke3d and doom which had auto-aim on the Y axis... and surprisingly quake 1 had that feature toggle in the menu too. But then it just wasn't working very well, so I was like "ohhhhh."
The game was revolutionary in many respects for sure...
I don't like moving my whole arm; A friend of mine used to play bbattlefield 3 competitively, and he uses a giant mousepad with low sensitivity, too. I used high sensitivity my whole life; It just feels better for me.
Arrow keys for movement
R Shift for jumping
R Ctrl for crouch
Num 0 for reload (or Backspace sometimes)
Num End for special movement
Num 5 drop weapon
End above arrow keys for Evolve menu
Delete/PgDown for weapons forw/back
ENTER for Use
It's what i've been using for like 15 years and works perfectly well.
