Weird geometry artifacts

I sometimes get these weird artifacts. They are actual geometry triangles that get stretched to weird places.
This happens to me on descent, or veil, usualy after the game has been going on for some time.

ns2-1.jpg

This can then happen to world geometry or props and characters ( so i guess everything ).
I once saw an exo that looked like an exploded hamster, with his triangles stretching out to every corner of the map.

Im running on Windows 7
with an i5-3570k CPU
and MSI GTX 560 Ti-Hawk GPU
and 8 gig's of RAM.

It is realy annoying, specialy as a commander, when there is a polygon stretched all over the map, covering everything up :(

I've seen this too. i5-3570k and gtx 660ti.

I wonder about overheating but everything is stock and not OC on my box, so.

There is a topic somewhere in tech support about this. I think it was driver related, but I can not remember 100% for sure.

Sorry for a pseudo-necropost, but i got the same issues in descent too, and in docking, and yes, i have a 670 Geforce.
I will do the same the next time, but a Alt-Tab usually fix it fir me

It's just one of those graphics bugs that pops up from time to time. Appears to be server-specific sometimes, too.

This issue is known, and is specific to GeForce cards in the 4XX, 5XX and 6XX ranges. If you encounter this, please take screenshots and then run techsupport.exe in your NS2 steam directory - follow what it says and send the email with the screenshots as requested. Thanks!

Ah wish I had known it was game related. I got it twice (not often) and usually reset my game to fix it. One time I was playing a heated match and could not abandon it so I had to deal and every time I shot bullets with my exo the whole screen filled up with those streaks so I could not see anything and had to estimate where I thought the target was. Too bad I deleted the demo though it probably would not work either way. I will use that .exe if I get it again.

You are so lucky this is game/driver/code issue.

I've had these bugs before but it was about a day before my GPU killed itself.

Typically, artifacting like this is a sign of GPU overheating and/or dying. However, the GTX 5XX series seems to have separate artifacting issues in NS2, so the nominal cause is: MSI GTX 560 Ti-Hawk GPU

I've sent off all your screenshots, system specs (where available) and all the playtester videos/specs/shots to the Nvidia Driver team, as I suspect this is a driver issue. Hopefully they will fix it in a future driver release.

yeah, this bug has been around since release. it seems to have gotten a little better, but i kind of suspect it's something to do with the nvidia drivers as well.. it went away for awhile and it started happening again after i updated my drivers recently. For what it's worth, it's never happened to me on any of the NSL maps, or on Jambi.

I can't play a few maps because this happens so frequently with a 560ti. Docking is the worst.

Whelps, bow down to the zero tolerance power of ATI/AMD. There is a reason these polygons won't even dare to run amok like this under their reign. Polygons have to be kept in check, otherwise you have to deal with polygones :P
