Hey there,

I'm having trouble with the lighting coming through some geometry. Any tips?

I don't use spark so I'm just guessing here, but try welding the edges or vertex's.

This is normal unfortunatelly, it is caused by large spotlight emulating the directional light. Try lowering the spotlight's conus angle - it will result in sharper shadows.

You can build a light wall, between the outside and the level wall which blocks the light.

I've never used spark so I'm just guessing here, but if load the map up as a marine, purchase the welder and use it along the seems, I'm pretty sure it'll close any holes!
    So much for guessing :P

Great idea! I'll just drop a welder....

I have already tried this. The first image already has something blocking that is only ~20 above these edges.

Sounds good, I'll fiddle with the conus angle and a few other settings on the spotlight so I can still get the effect I want but not the issue.

Actually it will not solve the issue 100% but it could help. Try to put the spotlight very far away (like 3000-5000 units) and set the angle very low (6-10°). For example, look how is it done in Summit Atrium.

Rudy, that's a great tip, I'll try it tonight.

I did notice that when I try to use the 'block light method' that somehow the geometry isn't casting a shadow. Does the dev texture not cast shadows or am I doing something odd? Lights are clearly set to cast shadows, and there is no such option on geometry - does the face have to be facing a specific direction?

Actully face cast shadow when light is behind it, try to flip those block light faces.

I had the same issue building ns2_co_fortsiege. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=118225440

Light would shine through the ground and into the caves below just like in your screenshots above. What ended up fixing it for me was to put in light-blocking geometry and extrude the faces (turn them into fully 3-dimensional geometry). This of course created faces which faced both directions.
