Welding Help Anyone?

Hey people, I right now am asking something that MAY have been discussed already in some topics, but I didnt find it anywhere, nor did i find it from the help-file, so heres the Q:
Welding, how do I use the welder to block those entrances that are marked with the yellow explosion(?) mark? I mean, I have always thought that the mark meant that only aliens could go thru until it was welded open, but now as I have played couple of times I've noticed that it means about ability to be a blocked route!
Now how do I actually weld something to block entrances? I've tried the welder and welded and welded for like 2 minutes non-stop but nothing happens. Where should I point the welder at?

A bar should appear at the bottom of your HUD displaying the progress of your wielding . You must continue to wield untill the bar is full , if you turn away or move you will have to start the wielding again .

Also make sure that you are covered by your teammates while doing it, otherwise you might find your end in a skulk´s stomach.

In most cases, there is a specific spot or semi-transparent bar that must be welded. Also, the welder has a very short range, so you have to be very close to weld.

Aim for the center of the target, you usually can't miss it.

Most due to the fact it was a legimte question, asked nicely, and I can't remember it being asked before, at least not specificaly.

Also note that if you start welding something and are interupted (if you move off the weld, die, etc) it saves the progress and you pick up where you last left off on the welding process.

Q: I remeber it used to be a feature that Gorges could break welded shut vents, etc. Is this still in, or did I miss it in a RC log?

haha i spent ages attacking shut vents with my fades or skulks. i didn't know it was not possible to de-weld them.

i actually saw a skulk today that went through a closed vent.
don't konw how he did it, but he shewed(sp?) a bit on it and then he was in the vent

I remember reading something about vents originally being destructable. I don't know if any of the mappers actually did this or not, but from what I think I read, they were supposed to have like 5000 hitpoints or something. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ya i herd that too. But on bast 2 onos and me as a skulk pounded on that damn thign for more then 5 minutes adn did squat. I was able to accidenyly destryo a vent i just welded once with one shot to the bar thign in a vetn with a hmg.. and what sux is i couldnt welde it shut again. Also some points that you weld actualy open a passage way or uncover a panel to shut a vent.
