HD 5870 or 2x HD 5770 for NS2?

I already have one HD 5770, and I'm planing make a crossfire of it or buy a 5870.
Will be a lot more cheap with CX, but I know that in many times the HD 5870 is equal or better than a CX of HD 5770.
What do you think about this GPUs config for NS2?
CX works fine on NS2?

Not particularly sure about crossfire, I do know that there are beta drivers out from Nvidia that make SLI work fairly well. You'd have to check the AMD site to see if they have any updates or other beta drivers.
On a separate note, I'd look into switching over to Nvidia cards. I used to be a big ATI supporter but Nvidia just makes a much better product now and I don't have nearly as many issues as I did with ATI.
Yea I know, I actually did say check the AMD website for drivers. There are some for sale that are still referred to as ATI though. For example <a href="http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/guidedSearch.asp?CatId=28&name=Video-Cards&cm_sp=Masthead-_-Computer%20Parts-_-Spot%2017" target="_blank">Here</a>.
If you check the filter under chipset, ATI is an option. And I haven't bought a card from them since 2009 so I'm technically correct.

ATI/AMD cards have never let me down.
my only nvidia card was a 6800 GT and it was DoA.
additionally, nvidia just seem a lot more expensive for similar performance... take the hd7950 vs 660 ti for example.
I forgot to tell that I have a motherboard with x2 PCI-e 16x

You just compared 2 completely different levels of video cards. Ti models are the types of cards you will find at like a bestbuy or walmart. They're not meant to be very good, just cheap. Compare a similarly priced card (btw 7950's are about 450 pre rebate, 320 after) like the gtx 670 and it's twice as fast. Also I don't see what a 6800 has to do with anything, that's quite old and to be honest I've gotten broken products from ASUS, MSI, EVGA, etc... They do replace them if you send them back.

I can't find any major retailers even selling those cards anymore. Truthfully video cards come down to architecture, that is to say it's about the newest technology. Those old cards won't handle things nearly as well as a newer one. Go with a 7770 if you need something cheap, it's only about $110 and you'll be far more satisfied with that than trying to do crossfire with some very old cards.
AMD and Nvidia both have their merits: AMD is cheap and has good performance, Nvidia has all these amazing Anti Aliasing modes... But they can only be afforded performance wise, when you get one of the more expensive cards.
Go for the single GPU solution.
It's just not worth the trouble. Stick to single GPU and you'll have less headaches down the road.
This trend started with the 9000 series nvidia, notice how the 9600GT and 9800GX2 were 1gb cards?
Now 2gb VRAM is appreciated in the 500 and 600 series, with some vendors making 3gb 660Ti's.
CX is good in this area, because you can buy 2 cheap cards for 4gb of VRAM.
Two 5770's is probably the better way to go, depends how cluey you are with computers.
I'd only do it if you're willing to manually test and create settings for your CX profiles, AMD/ATI are horrendous for not making working profiles. Nvidia is too for some games, but are generally faster than AMD/ATI and SLI works for more games to begin with.
EDIT: Forgot, Apparantly CX and SLI don't use VRAM like stripe does in raid hard drives, so you don't get 4gb useable, you get 2gb filled with the same data on both cards. I don't know how true this is, however according to benchmarks it seems to be a myth.
edit #2 for clarity.
Anyway, I'd rather have a good single GPU, than two mediocre GPU's producing more heat, consuming more power, and causing more driver problems. But that's just me.
I had the 5770 before and upgraded to a 560ti. The difference is immense.
no... 660 ti is in the same price range as 7950... the 670 is 20-30% more expensive and therefore closer to the 7970 price.
anyway both manufacturers are equal and my point was that you use personal preference, and in my experience ATI/AMD have always had the better value cards which give me no issues or problems. i'm sure AMD have lost customers because someone bought a DoA AMD card, so i don't think nvidia give a crap that they lost me as a customer with a DoA card.
get this : <a href="http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4960997&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=Es5Ekr9eEBk-Qr_hlxFBEv0ZVu61.GF0Gg" target="_blank">http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...BEv0ZVu61.GF0Gg</a>
That card is on like mega sale right now. The link takes you to a page selling a 6970 for 189 instead of the normal 300 it goes for.
i recently went from a 5870 to a GTX 670 and its silky smooth max settings @ 1920x1080
i'd be in favour of getting a GTX 660 over the 5870 as I'm assuming price wise they are similar, however the 660 is faster, cooler and less power hungry (any price difference will pay for itself over time in lower electricity bills)
It's simple, where I live the price of a GPU like GTX 670 is x4 more expensive that in your country.
And 5870 is old but is much better than 7770 for example.
But thks for all that u suggested.
I have a HD6970 and it's always FPS limited by the CPU.
HD 5870 will be better than 2x HD 5770
Sell your old 5770 on ebay or cragistlist to save some cash or use it as a second physics card if your mobo can support it

If anyone is curious I'm using a HD 6870 to run this game and rarely have FPS issues

5770 can't be used as any kind of physics card. That's nvidia only.
The 5870 will be faster though.
If it's 0 then your cpu is holding you back.
I use a bulldozer 8150 @ 4.07ghtz and gtx460, i average 5-10ms GPU wait
