Why do you hate left-handed people? :p

<div class="IPBDescription">I can't bind the L key for anything.</div>I can't bind anything to the L key.
This is kind of a huge problem for left-handed players, as most of us use PL;' for movement or OKL; (instead of WASD for you righties out there).
Are other people having this problem? Can you bind your L key to anything?
Thanks!
If this isn't a universal problem I'll post more info about my specific system.

but as for your issue: have you checked all your other binds, maybe another one is overlapping?

Same here lol, I just use the default layout. It's a right-handed world, I learned to cope with it because of my job.
As a lefty myself, i just adjusted to the way everyone else uses the keyboard and mouse.
Like what was said before, we live in a righty world with 10 of them to 1 of us, its probably worth it to just adapt.
In the meantime (desperate to play) I'm trying to play with WASD. The results are comically bad, :p.
I bound my mic to F. When I get attacked suddenly and excitedly go to press F with my pinky to call for some aid from nearby marines, half the time I hit G instead and throw my rifle on the ground in front of the advancing skulk. Ouch.
How do you righties manage this silly WASD spot? In my normal position I've got [, ], and \ all close to my ring finger or pinky; all you get is Q and Tab. I feel for you.
Dunno if unbinadble L is a root bug in the code or something messy with the binding interface.
Q is also unbindable last I checked.
Do you mean re-bindable? Q is one of the default bound keys, unless I'm misremembering.
Laptop, sadly. I do shift the whole laptop to the right and use my right hand on WASD but it's pretty awkward.
As a left-hander, this is now my number 1 excuse for bads stats.
Also, i use wasd anyway.
< is strafe left
> strafe right
alt backpeddle
mouse1 move forward
/ reload
M use
mouse 2 fire
bind alternate fire to anything comfortable for you... i use apostrophe (')
the only major difference is that you use mouse1 to move forward instead of a keyboard button. i find this to be advantageous as you can strafe + move forward (and thus evade) easier. i know a lot of people use mouse1 to move forward so it's not that uncommon

me too.
OP, don't tar all left-handers with the same brush :P
not sure why you can't bind the key though, i have a similar problem with my desired push-to-talk 'v', whenever i talk as commander i accidentally cancel upgrades and recycle buildings.
* Fixed bug where L key couldn't be bound in the key bindings options.

I know. Made my day. :)
This thread can die in peace now.
I use ESDF. It gives you a much wider range of accessible buttons.
The only problem is that WASD feels completely awkward to me now, which is a problem for certain games which has WASD hard-coded because I forget that I'm not using ESDF.
I used it for a time too, just to try it out.
It feels more compact than WASD, and with the right bind spots, everything you need is right there.
For Cheaters, by cheaters. ;)

Fix this yourself. Don't wait for UWE to get around to it.
Key-binds can be tricky... just make sure you're happy with what you have or make sure you know where you can go to fix that you're stuck with. Same goes for any piece of software.
