It is bad enough in heavy action having an EXO suit, 2 skulks, a grenade explosion and an onos right in your face whilst trying to repair the EXO. All you can see is a visual mess, and you have no real idea of where you are positioning yourself.
If anything range should be increased to allow you to view more of what is going on and to allow for easier repairing when players are moving, but with a reduction in damage to life forms.
I tried this the other night. I was only able to get 1 kill with the welder in about 25 minutes. During that time I took out the entire alien cyst chain twice without a single skulk trying to stop me, killed many rt's because a lack of cysting, was repeatedly yelled at for being an idiot with the welder, and I even got a congrats on being such a good troll. I figured the aliens would come to me if I was attacking the cyst chain, they did not. Will be trying again. I can say this is harder than it looks.

If you stop for a second you can hear marines approaching from pretty far away. Might be something to think about during that boring time while holding the fire button ;-) .
