Better than the oneliner tips at the bottom
I've played the beta for a long time and I still don't know what each of the alien upgrade chambers look. This could be easily teached to the players by replacing the current loading screens with infographics:

Each infographic could contain a few images of a given chamber, weapon or a lifeform and some additional information, like abilities, what the chamber does, how much does it cost etc.

The infographics would change in a slideshow and the player could also press space and/or arrows to get next slide.

EDIT: Here's an illustration what it could look like:

EDIT: Because the balance variables are still subject to change, the infographics could be drawn without their exact health/armor/cost variables, which are the most probable things which might be adjusted.

Yea, this would definitely help. I think in general, players, particularly on the alien side, need to be educated more on how the research and upgrades work. (And which structures they should protect)

    Very great!
Even as "old school player" i don't know what everything did in Ns2, so this would be very helpfull.

You get my +1 as well for a great and well-presented idea. This is similar to what Skyrim does with their loading screens, come to think of it.

+1! These could also use Cory's concept artwork on units/structures :D

Not a new or original idea but I very much like it. Also, the downloading mods text could be more verbose by showing the amount of data needed and the progress.

The current loading screen layout is poorly done, this is probably because of the coding priorities, but it is not exciting at all. Ns2 glows with creativity but the loading screen is the weakest part of it all.

Would be nicer to just have this image at the bottom (in a corner with the text next to it) as a part of the tip system, rather than it taking up the entire screen with some sloppy slide. But yea, it's definitely a great idea, new players need to be better informed on what each structure does.

At lease that is the weakest part, not gameplay or something important.

It needs to be an editable text what with supporting other languages as well as balance changes.

Why don't we as a community do it? At least the picture part for the buildings and leave the text to be editable?

The text could easily be generated at runtime and drawn on top of the background image.
