    Playing at 9am PST sucks.

it does Gorgeous, but we have so many games and double elim seems the most fair, but also we have to keep our EU people around too so it needs to start early.

A bit early, still. I'd much rather see games starting ~noon PST, or 3pm EST. NA teams don't have much of a chance of getting their A team warmed up and playing at 9 am on a weekend.

tell you what if you can get some consensus from the EU guys on starting at Noon Sat I dont mind moving it up, but all this is probably about 6 hours of gameplay so thats like 3 in the morning for EU....

This is great news, I am looking forward to watching the matches!

P.S. Early morning for US players is a LOT better than very late at night for EU players. I would much rather play at 9am than 9pm.

Sounds fun, I hope the matches will be live streamed

You're probably the only player that wants to be on at 9am for a competitive game. I know my team will be unable/unwilling to participate in any tournament that's starting that early on a weekend. Most of our players don't get on until 6pm EST or later.

Personally, I'm just hoping we get some more NA and EU teams so we can play in respective tournaments at reasonable times and pings.

Gorgeous' team needs to warm up. aka engage in some illicit behavior and wake up at noon

ok... changing it to NOON PST.... but this mean people will really need to help to move things along so our EU teams if they make it to the higher brackets wont be bleeding from the eyes...
  • GORGEousGORGEous Join Date: 2012-02-19 Member: 146762Members, NS2 Map Tester
Awesome. We have a shot at being able to make that time frame.

I think exploitative strats would be things like putting upgrade chambers in rocks/boxes/pillars/underthemap. Or using various bugs to get leap for free or double research or whatever.

The team player rule could use some expanding, though. Does that mean you can only have 6 registered team members and then you can sub one guy in for any match? IE I have 6 registered, but 1 didn't show therefore I have 5 + 1 merc? Or does this mean I can register 8 players and use any of the 8 players I registered + 1 merc to fill out a team? Or does this mean that I have to maintain my lineup from the previous game with only one person changed from match to match that has to be registered before hand (ie no mercs)?

I don't (ideally) want to play at 9am either, it is just much better than midnight or 3am.

Cross border tournaments are not ideal, but this is all the community can manage at the moment and it will be fun.

Thank you for organising this WasabiOne!

Finland is at CET+1 (= UTC+2), so for us the planned starting time is 22:00... I'm busy on the date, but maybe some of the guys want to pull an all-nighter. We'll see..

Wouldn't it be better to play at least the finals on the day after? This is going to be a lot of matches and delays are bound to happen. Assuming a European team makes it to the finals it's going to be morning by the time they get there, and I doubt their quality of play will be the best it can be.
