Haha "ok on med-high settings"? With a 2.4ghz processor? No.

It'll be borderline unplayable, even on rock bottom settings.

Even Flayra's dubious "minimum required" hardware is a 2.6ghz dual core.

For testing purposes, I have run my C2D E6420 @ stock speeds (2.13Ghz) and now running a HD5870 1Gb with 2Gb of DDR2. It is "playable" (18-22FPS) up to the point when more then 6 people are in a room shooting/biting (1 to 4 seconds hitching when that happens). Also EVERYTHING that is in the game has to be loaded into memory first, so the first round will be terribly hitchy, while the second round will be closer to "acceptable" just steer clear of big battles >:D

An i5 should have less of an issue then my C2D, but yeah <2.6Ghz is pushing it...

Maybe 1366x768 low-med settings and tweaks are fine for me.

By release, you should be able run NS2 ok in med-high settings.

    I run a 1st gen i7 2.6Ghz with a GeForce 470 on High and for me, it's very playable.

I would seriously hesitate buying this game before seeing how performance pans out at release. There aren't any refunds, and regardless of what the other posters in this thread are telling you about how smooth their FPS is when they're sitting in the ready room or some isolated corner of marine start, the minimum spec is 2.6ghz dual core. You don't have this. Plus you're on a laptop, which may or not respond well to NS2's demands on the process (read: overheating issues).

If you're getting a free copy from a friend or something, by all means go for it. But don't spend money on something that's not going to perform well for you.

edit: My processor is a 3.6 AMD quad core with Nvidia GTX 570. Even now my FPS dips to low 20s in combat. I can't even begin to imagine how people are able to play this game when their frames stagger to 10 FPS every time they look at a skulk.

But hey, don't take my word for it, go read the benchmarks thread:

    http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...60&start=60

Look at the last page only. Earlier pages are from older/way worse builds. Yes, NS2 will be totally playable presuming you're used to your games looking like a power point presentation.

Thanks for your detailed reply, I know about my poor hardware but I want to play this game if looks like a power point. Looking benchmarks I see a similar configuration:

I think use a lower resolution(my laptop max is 1366x768) and enabling Multicore..............possibly game run playable.

No matter that it looks bad or average while I can play well, because the most important thing about this game is its gameplay, if I wanted to play exclusively for the graphic quality I would go to other games where my laptop can run everything without any problem, but the important thing for me is the mechanics of this game.

I hope someday we meet in low resolution ;)

    Regards

No, you will not be able to enjoy ns2. It will be for all intents and purposes: unplayable.

Obvious troll is obvious. He should be able to run it decently, and by release pretty well.

His CPU is faar worse than mine ( I7 2670qm ): everything set to low ... 50-60 fps, but dropping down to 25 in some situations. That´s not enjoyable ....stable 40 fps would be enjoyable. Having STABLE fps is so important ..and currently NS2 can´t offer this.... but optimization is comming i guess/hope.
