<div class="IPBDescription">False information when purchasing on NS2 website!</div>Just pre-ordered NS2 from your website (UKW) as stated on website there is instant beta access! which i havent been given. reading on forums that the beta has been closed due to steam release!
In this case i have been give false information and require an explanation why this hasnt been changed if this is true, as i feel cheated and i am sure others are feeling the same too!
This changes my opinion of game/services and as a NS1 vetaran i expect better treatment as a paying customer for NS2!

just cleared cache and it has changed! typical as i have just upgraded and desided to buy...
just have to wait til october!

Now coming here I find this was just false advertising because someone messed up at your end.
Not at all happy about this, I guess my only options are a refund or just ignore this fraud?

First, I'm sorry for you for the mistake, it should never have happened. It sucks if you won't be allowed to join the beta, if you thought you would when you bought it.
Second, though, you still have received ownership of a great game. You haven't lost anything. Come October, you will get (more than) full access to the polished launch version for the first time. Everyone who posts one of these threads and claims that UWE has cheated them out of something needs to take a deep breath and go for a walk.
No that isn't fair at all, I was miss-sold something and I have a legitimate complaint.
I do not have a lot of money for games at the moment, so I have to make careful choices, I chose this game because I loved NS1 back in the day and would have immediate access to play NS2 now.
Saying that I will have access to the full game in October is irrelevant, and saying I should take a walk is just trolling.
This is a technical support sub-board, if you have nothing positive to contribute you should not be posting at all.
Trolling me and others with this issue is not helping the NS community or the devs, no matter what you may think.
And you did a good one, because they don't have a lot of money to make this game.
This is a REAL beta, not some sort of demo to make advertisement (like Battlefield 3). It's unbalanced, there's bugs, performances issues, etc...
People who are in the beta didn't join to say "hey, I played it before you !", they join to help the devs improve the game and to finance it. The first people who pre-ordered the game waited for YEARS and they didn't even knew if the game was really gonna be a reality one day. So I really don't think that waiting a month should be such a big deal.
There was no false advertising, just a technical error. I'm sorry for you and I understand that you might be disappointed but it's not UWE's fault.

The website was updated the day after it went on Steam sale. You are accessing a cached version of the website, not the actual version on the website. Either that or you are just trying to swing access to the Beta, which you won't get.
You inability to clear caches, along with that of the DNS servers means you have seen an out of date website. I suggest you take your issues up with the people who design the internet infrastructure, they are the cause of your issue, not the NS2 developers.
Either You messed up because at sometime in the past you have visited the page and not cleared your cache, or the servers through who your ISP routes you onto the internet are showing you old versions of the internet.
Oh, and when I follow your link guess what? I see the pic above, as I have for days!!

You clearly have no technical understanding of the problem here, so I suggest you refrain from further posting as you will only embarass yourself further.
I appreciate that your are loyal to the NS community and trying to defend a mistake they made but your technical ignorance suggests that you would be better of just not commenting on things you do not understand.
Look above your post, and around this forum, this has already been acknowledged as a mistake that they made with the web site, your naive understanding of how this works and your subsequent lengthy post trying to pin the blame for this on me is utterly pathetic.
1) People do not routinely clear their caches on the off-chance that a website has been changed.
2) If you are making a change like this to correct an error you make sure you force a refresh on the users.

You have been given an explanation that shows there was no ill-intent or intentional mischief from UWE, and rather strongly suggests that they had no fault in the matter whatsoever.

This right here is you casting aspersions at UWE, berating them for something that was either an honest mistake or completely not their fault whatsoever, and then acting like they have personally insulted your mother for letting such a thing happen. You are being rude and ignorant of the facts.

Apparently calm, polite appeals for rationality now constitute trolling.
I would suggest that you do what I told you, and step away from your computer for a while until you have calmed down. Then email UWE directly, and they can explain it to you in a way that I am sure will be inescapably clear. It would be better for your temper and that of everyone who reads this thread. They might even have sympathy and let you in to the beta, but of course that is at their discretion. I look forward to playing with you when you finally do get access, and hope you enjoy the game.

I over-reacted sure, but the forum is being filled with people crying and whinging about Beta access with their steam pre-order, and you got the brunt. Sorry for that, and if you do want a real discussion on how the internet works, I'm more than happy to sit you down and take you through a proper technical explanation.
