<div class="IPBDescription">Was working fine, until recently.</div>Hey everyone,

Been playing the Beta for a while now (Loving everything about it so far!!). However recently I played the game and it worked fine; Started it again later in the day and it crashed straight away. This is what is shown in the log:

______________________________________________________________
Date: 09/01/12
Time: 12:27:19
--------------------------------------------------------------
Build 217
Starting Natural Selection 2
RenderDevice: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (8.17.13.142)
Updating of subscribed mods is complete (not subscribed to any mods).
Error: Attempted to load remote options from a file that does not exist.
Error: 32 memory leaks in 'Sound' (26432 bytes)
Error: 7863 memory leaks in 'Client' (934396 bytes)
Error: 332 memory leaks in 'Script' (19544 bytes)
RenderDevice: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (8.17.13.142)

I've tried the following:

- Restarting Steam
- Restarting my computer
- Validate all NS2 files
- Reinstall NS2
- Reinstall NS2 after deleting all traces of the game (Including registry and steam associated files etc)
- Reinstall Direct X within the NS2 directory
- Reinstall Microsoft C++
- Reinstall my video drivers

The important computer specs are:

2600k @ 4.5ghz
Gigabyte Factory OC'd GTX 680
16GB RAM
Two 1920 x 1080 monitors (I have the game on one and the desktop on the other etc)

I'm out of ideas and thoroughly confused. Short of reformatting (I'm not doing that for the record lol), what else is there?? I'm very keen to keep playing this fantastic game :(

SOLUTION:
GIGABYTE OC Guru II was the blame! Even though it wasn't changing any GPU settings and had NO programmed tweaks it still caused ONLY Natural Selection 2 to crash. Not sure which program is to blame but somehow it seems there was a conflict. Thanks for all those who helped in the forum and elsewhere (ala The 'Max' and Iron Souls).

Cheers,
Robbie

After days of trying to find a fix I finally created an account seeking help on the forum. I just started the game and it suddenly started working again..... WTF!?! The game stopped working for no reason for days then suddenly started working?!?!

Thanks for reading my problem, the solution: No idea! lol...

Ok, started my computer up this morning and it's not working again. The log looks exactly the same as above. I've tried restarting my computer etc and it's not helping.
Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!? I don't understand how NOTHING is changing but it'll start working for a while then stop working for a while. It's doing my head in :(

Have you tried running your computer on default clock speeds? It might be an unstable overclock doing some crazy stuff.

Thanks for the idea! Tried it and it didn't make a difference :( I click the shortcut, screen goes black for half a second, then it crashes. The log says the same thing as above... I'm not sure what else I can do besides wait for the next build and see if it somehow fixes it :(

    Ok, try this.

Nuke NS2 from orbit. (Delete from steam)

Go into BIOS, run at stock.

Delete your entire Natural Selection 2 folder in your %appdata% folder.

Re-download NS2 from steam (over Ethernet if possible not Wifi).

    Try again.

    Hey mate,

Thanks for the suggestion! It didn't work however. NS2 is still the only game I have that doesn't work. I've officially tried everything. Any other ideas? :'(

My game still refuses to start after a two week hiatus. It's now been three builds since the game's stopped working.
