<div class="IPBDescription">A Chance Meeting of a UWE Dudesky (a must read)</div>Most of you don't really know me. I'm not a super-highly active forum member. I have pre-ordered the game, but I'm not on it 24/7. I'm not even that good of a player hovering right around 1 to 1 death to kills. But I am in love with this game. More than that, I'm in love with the whole process behind the game.
The story of Charlie as he worked his tail off to see his game a reality is amazing. I followed him, waiting patiently for more news of NS2, feeling discouraged, but excited at the announcement of the new engine, a 6-12 month delay at least, but a cool thing IMO. I salivated at each piece of info I could find. I told my wife of Zen of Sudoku and bragged on Charlie and Max. How cool is this story??? Then I watched every single video by Hugh (NS2HD). I was so excited to see gameplay as I hadn't ordered it yet. My computer had to be upgraded to even make it playable when I did order it. I dreamed out loud to my wife about how UWE should hire this NS2HD guy. I thanked the devs. Awesomeness!
I say all this to let you know that I'm somewhat of an addict. I have a family and job, so I can't spend the time on NS2 that I used to spend in my college days, I can't keep up with the forums, and I don't have the time to playtest, but I love this game.
Recently I moved from Florida to Washington state. My wife and I live just outside Seattle. So there we were, taking a leisurely afternoon at Snowqualmie Falls in Washington state. It's a beautiful waterfall with a cool park attached. We were waiting on some friends, sitting down on a bench in the shade, when I looked about and noticed that I recognized some guy that was sitting opposite us. I could NOT for the life of me figure out who it could be. I needed a better look. Was it the guy from the board game store in the mall? So I followed him.
Into the souvenire shop I went. I thought, as I got a closer look, that I knew who this guy was now. I saw the beard and lumberjack look. It was Brian 2 (Brian Cronin)! It was that programmer guy off of all the videos.
Several thoughts went through my head, first, what was he doing here with a game to finish (taking a break before the big push BTW), and second, would he be cool with me stalking him? I walked over and asked sheepishly how I knew him. What did he do for a living. "Well, I just work on this game...," he said, and I didn't even let him finish, "You're one of the Brians!"
How cool that in this crazy tourist trap in Seattle WA that I run into a guy that works for UWE. I asked him if people recognize him all the time, and he said that I'm the first one (aren't the UWE guys famous by now)! Wow, I'm weird, but how cool! Apparently the level of my freakishness didn't freak him out, but it did make it clear how involved I get with this game sometimes. This is like a family of community members. I may have never met anyone from the NS2 community before, but it just shows how important what Charlie, Max, Brians, Cory, Hugh, etc. are trying to do. They deserve our support for building a game and community that can truly be appreciated and respected on so many levels.
Thanks UWE.

Lolz. Are there often whole topics devoted to his beard? And does it have a name?
The beard has a Brian, that's the gist of it I think
I believe he likes to be refferd to as Brian Number 1 ;-) But that is a freakisly odd but awesome tale!

back in the day when ns2 was announced I was trying anything to just find a bit of new info or a new picture or a video.
what can I say more these guys are pure insperation.
I imagine if I met the devs one day I would be screaming like a teenage girl in a Justin Bieber concert.
Haha, I was waiting for this one. Well played Locklear, well played :D
One day I hope to bump into you as well!
