I don't know about other players but I find it kind of annoying being the aliens when you buy a lerk or fade and then die right away, or while evolving. So here's my idea:
Gorge-buy once and get two free lives, then you buy it again.
Lerk-buy once and get 3 free lives.
Fade-buy once and get 1 free life.
Onos-buy and get 0 free lives.
Plus I think an offline practice with bots/NPCs would be great(like in Team Fortress 2).

And regarding servers, whats wrong with starting your own listenserver with a password? Bots are ingame, but i cant remember the console input..
Learn from your faults and gestate on saver spots and don't overestimate your power and be more carfully.
And always flee with enough HP so you can still survive some bullets. And don't always go for a kill, do some DMG and retreat, either the marine runs back to base to get armor back, or he just get a med so your next attack has a bigger chance to kill him while you have full HP again. Both are an advantage for you or another Alien.
And the most important thing, there can be a marine around each corner. Use the environements when you flee, use vents, walls, obstacles, holes etc and don't just use the horizontal line, the vertical aspects from the Aliens, even for the Fade, is the key in sucessful movement. Always go the route where you would wait for a fleeing fade!
Onos just needs support, he should spend a bit more time on jogging than on eating that orange goo.
You can evolve into gorge, lerk and fade inside of vents where you are most of the time during the game safe. if you are evolving in to onos you need to be on the ground but just hide among the spawning eggs and ask your commander to mist you so you evolve faster and everything should be alright. you also probably have more than one hive when you evolve into onos so evolve in the safer one.
The die within a minute thingy will just promote kamikazi taktiks within the first minute after spawning. Say if i just spawned into a lerk and after half a minute found myself in a group of rines and i have already taken some hits what do i do? Try to flee to avoid death or kill the rines risking death but o wait one minute hasn't passed yet so if i die i will just respawn as lerk again so the obvious choice is to try and kill the rines risking Nothing.
I know that it is frustrating losing a newly evolved lifeform or while evolving but most of the time when that happens it was your own fault ex: not hiding to evolve, rushing in mindlessly and not pulling out in time ;D
There have been some talk about a tutorial being scripted and i would be surprised if the hiding before evolving thing won't be mentioned.
It can take half a game to save up the Pres to Fade or Onos, and another half a minute waiting as a defenseless embryo. Sometimes a Marine may randomly walk by and kill you, not due to fault of your own, but rather, your teammates' failure to protect you.
Refunding some of the resources paid to evolve, when dying as an egg would make the game more fun for aliens.
I have the same point of view as you Player ^^ (also Elmo, Floodinator who expressed the same kind of idea)
But why do we* object your point of view Gemynei12? (*Hope those from above will agree :p )
- 1 : it is unintuitive... If you die, you should not recover from it and lose everything... As Elmo described it: "too bad".
- 2 : Did you ever played on marine side? Don't you think that at some point of the game a lerk or a fade are hard enough to kill so that they don't respawn back 10 secs later? Just imagine a very skilled player with such feature? (cross a competitive player in lerk and you will taste it ;))
- 3 : When you use your personal resources, you make an important choice (as you buy a car irl :), and it's your responsability to use it well. Refund has no justification in the gameplay, or as marine you should get back your weapon as soon as you respawn. If you don't give importance to your lifeform, you can try to evolve on the roof of the command station. If you take such a risk, why would you get back your res?!?
- 4 : it is strategy-less... If you have multiple lives as a lifeform, you don't give it the same importance as if you had 1 only.
To sum up, changing a such important part of the gameplay is unrealizable, you need to adapt a bit to the game :) Get some skills and some knowledge of the game and you will understand me.
My thoughts exactly.
This sounds to me like complete player error. Not something that needs fixing. Like seriously guys, if you can't manage to find a safe place to gestate on the map then the game is already over. The chances of you being in danger in an even game are quite low. Either the Marines are making a rush for the Hive or a Marine is making a run for upgrades and happens upon your egg randomly.. either way the chances of that getting by are miniscule.
This is just inexperience speaking, you'll find out eventually that gestation and the way it works is just fine.
