Very nice articles, congratulations to the devs for good publicity. I'm glad to see how well things are going for them.
I do worry a little bit on the focus on competitive scene and I'm sure it will attract many competitive players to the game. The game does have the potential to be one of the best competitive games out there but I feel like they should work a little bit more with the competitive scene. A good competitive game does not only need fairly good balance but also fun mechanics and flow that do not get boring after 1000+ hours of gameplay time. But I hope that these worries are unnecessary,
that guy who commented on the day 1 coverage where they said they were gonna talk about ns2 but forgot? oh yeah, that was me.... :P
AND, in those comments they also said theyre giving ns2 its own preview thing cause they think it has so much potential! so look out for that

The last paragraph seems to be a bit of skepticism though. Hopefully NS2 can have some sort of tutorial system for new players, I think thats what he is wanting.

Yea i noticed that to. The guy/girl almost seems uneasy about the market and "accessable gaming" in this climate. I defenately think a tutorial sysyem is needed. Tuortial maps/videos...etc perhaps that needs to be a squad 5 project to get a high quality tutorial put in the game in several languages.
Anyway though WELL DONE GUYS!! Looks like your doing great at E3 :D and Hugh you are such a flurt but a complete gentleman :P

Problem is that FPS games have evolved steadily, never making drastic changes to gameplay. People who enjoy FPS games can step in and out of Call of Duty, Battlefield and Halo without much thought since they all drawn from eachother and copy controls so closely. Teams are also symmetrical.
Then we have Natural Selection 2 - teams are not symmetrical, controls are pretty similar for marines, but gameplay is completely alien for the aliens. Having objectives more complicated than "Shoot everyone" or "capture the flag" is also alien - with structures needing to be built, and defended across a large area rather than a single static base.
However I think this will be less of a barrier for PC gamers. If NS2 ever went to console it would be another matter.
