    Alright, lets start with what we know. The lerk is supposed to be a SUPPORT lifeform, and is stated in the design docs as well. Originally, it was supposed to do hit and run with machine gun spikes and spores, or snipe from afar while others tackle the marines. Sniping didn't work out too well, because it meant the lerk had to camp and that wasn't its role. Shotgun spikes came in, and despite the quirkiness of it, made Mr. Lerk the hit and run support lifeform it needed to be. Spore was removed because it was cheap and easy, and again one could just sit from afar and spore up the marine base. Cropduster spores was added for the same reason shotgun spikes were added.

    Poison bite was added for the ns1 vets or something.

    Honestly, it all comes down to what the niche of the lerk is. If the lerk is a flying skulk, then keep poison bite. If lerk is a flying camper, re-add sniper spikes and alpha spores. If lerk is hit and run, keep cropduster spores and shotty spikes.
