I played a few games on that ipgn server last night, it handled 16-18 players admirably. It got a little stuttery towards the end but only intermittantly. Overall it was very playable.

The issue is none of these dedicated boxes can handle an NS2 server with a good tickrate. Co-location is the only option for a good tickrate and player slots.

This^. But unfortunately it costs a ###### ######load to run it. I was quoted NZD$700 per month and that was only for NZ solid bandwidth not even Aus. :-(

Im very sure and hopeful though that when the server is more optimized even a dual core could run it sweet!

Have you looked at it? Have a play with https://www.serversaustralia.com.au/order/configure-37.html

I understand the below would be enough to run a server on, and half price would be around the $200AUD mark per month, and that's with extra RAM and bandwidth... CPU maybe just up to spec
2 x Intel Xeon Quad 5450 3.0 Ghz
Windows Server 2008 STD Edition +$40.00
None(4 x 300 GB) $845 (think thats wrong)
250GB SATA Storage #1 +$10.00
250GB SATA Storage #2 +$10.00
24GB ECC RAM +$80.00
Direct Admin - Self Install +$20.00
Server monitoring $20.00
Firewall Management $34.00
Spam Filtering $30.00
1500GB Datapack +$100.00
Setup Fee $149.00
Monthly Fee $398.00

I think the no raid price is incorrect. Have a compare with thr other offerings and it doesnt come close.

yeh they stuffed up the calculations

but its like doing custom domino pizzas.. if you can use their system to order cheaper.. why not? lol

the 3gz is not overclocked.. will that be ok?

We can also just custom quote specifically what we are after and see how that turns out

It turns out that this CPU design is 4.5 years old, so between the lower clock rate and the older architecture it's probably half as powerful as Aus Pure server was. It definately won't manage 18 slots.

How does one go about propositioning a company (IP) to set up servers?
Telstra could and would. I remember they had 2 servers at around the b120 mark.

Bob used to be an admin on the old COGS network.. Anyone can talk to him?
