Let me just say that I loved this map in NS1, and this map is very true to the original. That being said, I just did a gather on this map, and there are certainly some issues with it.
1) Res nodes are complicated and difficult. Difficult in they are tough to bite as a skulk, you can only get behind a number of them, there are no alternate ways to bite the RT down, because the RT is in a cave basically, which is frustrating.
2) Room size is too small, and needs a veil style remake in places. Eclipse hive could use some stretching, Maintenance is probably okay, but the third hive, which the name now eludes me, really needs to be remade. I am sure exactly how? Well no, it just feels way to cramped, offers no cover anywhere. Look at most of the hive rooms in Summit, there is always a few options of safe places for upgrades and the like, and nothing like that so far in eclipse at all.
3) Scheme/Color ... maybe it'll be less of an issue when the map is totally textured, but it just looks really plain. Which with the way other NS2 maps seem so immersible, the palette of eclipse doesn't lend itself to that.
But I am hopeful, because it seems to play pretty well, and is a classic.
Hey guys I'm just bumping this thread to get peoples ideas and suggestions on where Eclipse could be set. For example Tram is set in some sort of terraformed industrial metropolis and Summit is set at the summit of a mountain for testing if particular pants keep you warm or not (who knows :p).

Something I feel that NS2 lacks in its current maps aside from Veil, it just seems like lights are too bright and not saturated enough.
The way the lighting was done in NS1 with low light levels and a nice amount of saturation really gave life to maps like eclipse, I hope you can replicate that in the remake. <img src="http://i.imgur.com/W3cfe.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
I think fm_pone did a pretty good job with lighting in the NS2 veil map, reminds me much more of part of what was so visually appealing about the NS1 maps.

Hmm sounds like facilities for self-sufficient space station, probably on asteroid. Or lone terraforming base on distant planet (like in Star Trek TNG 1x18).
The theme could be that the map represents one section (floor) of such instalation and could indicate, that the station is much bigger and this is only a part of it. From aforementioned locations it seems that it could be the lowest floor with technological facilities.
I think, that KungfuSquirell was originally planing to release tree maps in his Veil, Eclipse series. With each one representing a different part of same space station.
