ns2 wont start when i launch it it says launching natural selection 2 the game starts then it crashes with no error message

Need more info, like system specs.

Also, see if there are any errors and/or post your log.txt file. You'll find it in \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2\ folder for Win Vista/7 (think its in a different location for WinXP, but you can probably find it via search).

already did that and my system specs are as follows: amd phenom x4 965 3.4 ghz cpu- 3.42 ghz 3.25 gb of ram- and nvidia geforce 9800 gtx+ 512 gb ram

Have you tried manually ending Steam's run process, then relaunching?

3.25GB of RAM? 32 bit OS?

Or do you have a shared memory graphics card that you need to disable? That could cause a conflict.

its 32-bit i have a 64 bit compatible system but my computer crashes when i install it sooo.... and as for force restarting steam it didn't work

Sounds like you have an underlying hardware issue.

maybe but im going to try a re install i went out of my way to delete all natural selection files and folders so let you know if it works...

I'd start by stress testing your CPU, as it seems plausible there's something wrong with that for a 64 BIT OS not to install.

i found out the directX runtime wasn't installed correctly so i reinstalled .net framework from 1.1 up and then tried again and it worked thx for all the help!!!
