His turning is fine, It's his acceleration out of a 180 degree turn that is the concern. The Lerk accelerates so fast out of a 180 degree turn. You're like a tennis ball in a rally.
The thought was the Lerk should continue to have to shed some built up velocity if doing a 180 degree turn at max speed. at the moment 1 flap negates all it's velocity, You stop on a dime.
The thought was a 180 degree turn should work a little like a car doing a handbrake 180 degree turn. the car would spin around but before moving in the other direction the wheels would spin (flap your wings) countering the built up velocity before gripping and accelerating in the other direction.
We thought this might make him look more natural in flight.

Lerk Flight mod 4.0: Download <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?p1m3ilbr534rcrw" target="_blank">http://www.mediafire.com/?p1m3ilbr534rcrw</a>
Changes: * Major changes to Lerk movement code. Now using Lerk:ModifyVelocity() to control majority of flight physics. Turning and strafing should be more gradual, and less abrupt. * Reduced straight up vertical Flap force to 4 for more control. * Soft flapping frequency cap (currently 0.15 second). Consecutive flaps within that time have reduced force. This should not limit reasonable flap force at all, but only added to prevent Jump key cruelty. * Holding Jump without movement key now maintains previous velocity, and allows 180 degree free aim/look. * Air acceleration (without Jump key) now increases with falling speed (Y-velocity). * Holding Shift key applies air brake, increasing air friction to reduce current velocity. * Air friction changed: 0.5 when not using movement keys (when not gliding), 0.2 when using movement keys. * Gliding definition changed: XZ (horizontal) minimum speed of 1 is required, (instead of in any direction) vertical facing (dot product) is no longer included in the gliding check. * Reduced Swoop (Ctrl) gravity from -30 to -24.

I find it easy to lose speed if you press W, as you begin to slow down when you look upward slightly. In general, You need to flap to gain altitude and maintain speed. Without W, you fly level regardless of your vertical look, so there is no speed loss.
I just tested the latest version. The speed gain when gliding without Forward key was removed a few days ago.
Thx twiliteblue! I have one little suggestion concerning glid (didn't play 203 so ignore it, if it is already in).
Problem:
If I release W is start the freelook glide but I need to flap to get the control back to the Lerk. It happens sometimes that you either release W in a hectic situation, or you get a lag/100% choke/mapload and somehow the lerk acts like you released W, both end with a dead lerk, because he glides in a line for a short time. Those lages cause that your keyinput is delayed and handels this as not pressing W anymore.
Suggestion: As soon as I press W again, I should get 100% control again.

Now I am confused?!? So your mod gets implemented from time to time in the build right? Or do the have theyr own lerkflightmodel? I know that for the newer version I need to run it on my own server, but you B200 suggestion f.e. got implemented in B200?
Not that I bring in things that I find while playing on the Server but actually nothing have to do with your mod.

Also Cool video. Using my old map as a lerk testing ground :D Shame it take so long to load :(

While testing your lerk mod. I had to get a new upgrade to power the awesome lerk.
Upgrade unlocked Fusion Power - A Mini Sun

I noted from the testing tonight that the Lerk is able to change direction too quickly.

I'm glad everyone had a good time! I sure did!
Alas poor Hive! Those flying Flamethrowers roasted it. But in death, it brought us glorious eternal light!

- Changed glide behaviour
- Improved gliding responsiveness
- Tweaked flap vertical thrust
- Tweaked air friction
When I glide as Lerk while pressing W i lose speed, but if I glide without pressing W i gain speed.
Should it be so?
