Sounds like someone's angry that the tiny little humans can interrupt their kill streak.

I'd rather die than wait near a hive or crag for 10 seconds every time I get peppered with fire.

Perhaps if the crag's umbra could stop things from burning/catching on fire. It would add an extra use to the currently underused ability and give another way for alien commanders to affect the battlefield and help their team.

Also would be cool if the lerk could get his umbra back with that fire canceling possibility. Since uwe is thinking of having lerk gas fume out from where the lerk is flying. He could drop umbra on his teamates like a helicopter being used against a forest fire.

I like the idea of that, but would it mean that flamethrowers don't even work in Umbra, or would it just be an afterburn change?

Direct flame fire would still hurt targets at full damage but targets in the umbra won't be on fire.

Final question then: do targets in umbra still lose energy regen while under direct fire?

Gee, it feels like you will hate the idea if I say no.

Even though umbra is a defensive ability. And if only used by crags, marines can easily remove them with arcs.

I won't hate your idea, but I'll propose an alternative version and see if you're interested in weighing the pros and cons of our ideas. If you are, I will do so. If you aren't, I'll leave my version out there and move on.

Might as well come out and say it: I think energy drain should still occur in umbra if the target is being hit by a flamethrower, mainly to control Fades. Feel free to suggest a different angle though; differing viewpoints are the fire that fuels progress.

I'm acting under the basis of aliens shouldn't have to sit around waiting for their fire to go out to get energy during an attack on their hive. Perhaps it would be fine if it was only direct flamethrower damage stopping energy regeneration while in umbra, as it would also promote more whips and hydras to defend the aliens.

Also eventually when flamethrower doesn't go through everything, it will flow better with people.

They should just cut the time you burn down if you're not being hit by direct flamethrower, or they could just lessen the damage you take while you are on fire and you're not being directly burned.

When you say cut, what to? It's random at the moment.

i dont like the flamethrower currently. as a marine it feels like you are extremely powerful (you are!) and as alien its annoying as hell.
the over time dmg is far to high (against life forms). as a skulk, once lit you die. as any higher life-form, you are shut down completely for a
far too long time. the only downside of flamethrower is, that its range is so limited. as lerk you can counter a flamer (if he doesnt catch you :D )
quite effective. this mechanic i really like

i would like to see the damage over time effect reduced (maybe % dmg with some maximum amount) vs players, and the energy
shutdown time reduced (maximum 4 seconds).

i hope these numbers get adjusted somehow, and im looking forward how things play
out with the new infestation system :)
