I can avoid those fan boys much more easily.

I finished it 3 nights ago. I loved it. No complaints. I’m not good with the tricky timing things. Tests where you have to drop through floor and ceiling multiple times to gain velocity and hit a tiny spot to fly across a big room. I had no problem with that in P2.

The game was overhyped, and it seems like a lot of people expected the second coming of something (or someone) other than Portal.

Well, Portal itself was little more than hype. An intriguing puzzle game with clever writing and dialog. But seriously? I've seen flash-based puzzle games that involve even more interesting mechanics than simple portals. The game itself was easy and in many cases felt overly dumbed-down.

Maybe not so much Portal 2 hype as recoil from Portal 1's overhype.

Yes please. I've heard people claim that in those 0/10 Portal 2 reviews as well (was that you?), and I would love to play those flash games. They sound fun!

Find them yourself. God knows anything I link would just be dismissed because that's how trolls work.

EDIT: I'll give you ONE: http://www.engineering.com/GamesPuzzles/Chronotron.aspx

Put it into a 3D engine, put Valve logo on it, bam, instant money.

Because the retards giving it a 10/10 are so much more correct?

Heaven forbid you make a broad claim and are expected to back it up, now that's strictly troll taboo. Not quite an original concept however as there have been multiple flash games (as if that's inherently some sort of pejorative term) and otherwise that have incorporated it, none of which have had the critical or mainstream draw of Portal. Feel free to find them yourself though. Braid perhaps, but no one's glowing over Ratchet & Clank's last game for its integration of it alone. If the first Portal is worth dismissing simply because it doesn't revolve around a seemingly more complex game mechanic, then just maybe people are drawn to it for the sum of it's parts rather than some super clever singular idea.

They're less far off at least.

See I didn't like Portal 1. I thought it was a bit of a boring tech demo, not much purpose for a single player game lacking story.

Although Portal 2 is much better, there's a story, more variation, it feels like and looks like a real single player game. You just sound bitter and angry. I think it's pretty retarded to give a game 0/10 rather than 10/10. 10/10 shows appreciation, where as 0/10 shows you really didn't bother to even get past a menu screen.

Valve released the Portal 2 mapping tools today (albeit in beta form), hopefully we'll start seeing some new challenges soon.

Interesting that you linked Chronotron. That's actually the first thing that came to mind when the subject of flash game mechanics came up. The second thing that came to mind was a game combining the two. Temporal clones plus portals. In 3D. Now that'd be a game to screw with your head!

    gaaaaaaaaah

Anyways, my impression was POrtal 2 is good quality. Doesn't have quite the same punch as Portal, kinda like they were trying too hard and all the awesome stuff was spread too thin. Also, wtf being frustrated in certain regions.

Still, worth the money I paid ($35). Just wish they explored some of the mechanics way more.

Hm it's really different listening to the music without being ingame. I like it a lot though, reminds me of digitallyimported (www.di.fm) 'Space music' radio.
