Ever see a RTS / FPS game come out and claim it's the first?
<div class="IPBDescription">or revolutionary?</div>And just kinda laugh as you think about Gloom & Natural Selection?
That new one for the X360, is a RTS / FPS Hybrid, and calls it "the first of it's kind, a hybrid game, combining the elements of First Person Shooters like Halo, and Halo Wars into a single game" ectera.
Freaking consoles man, they're doing stuff PC's were doing 10+ years ago and calling it revolutionary. Hate it. There's a whole forum of those X360 idiots getting excited about it and commending the studio for trying something so "daring" and "unique".
aha.

It does look kiddish, but to call TF2 Kiddish means you must be a kid yourself. I don't really like the game, but it is one of the premiere E-Sports out there.
Worst name ever!

I still laugh every time I hear 'e-sport'.

And I would too, if I didn't already know these people are making a couple hundred grand.
Too bad I don't have the time to play it....
Compared to Team Fortress or Fortress Forever. That cartoony Team Fortress 2, is a kid's game.
Compared to not playing games at all, playing any games is childish.
Compared to the sun, my oven is downright *cold*.
Does the widdle baby not like having grenades? :<
I still laugh, it just seems like such a desperate attempt to get people to take game tournaments seriously.
I mean real sports at least keep you fit, they have other applications, and they also make you famous, real sport superstars make millions and have their own lines of aftershave. They are also attractive, and the sports are cinematic.
Spending your life learning to play starcraft really well is a bit... sad? In comparison at least. I find it hard to reconcile paragons of manliness like football or rugby players with pasty nerds typing on keyboards and calling it e-sport.
It's like organising a chess tournament and calling it 'table sport' and having painfully overenthusiastic commentators do live streaming video of it.
It's not cool guys, you can't make it cool.
Goddammit I am going to staple a picture of David Beckham to your forehead.
Well he does sort of define manly to a degree. Athletic, well groomed, attractive wife, very rich, sport player etc. There are certainly worse things you could staple to my face.
That's half the point of sport, it's supposed to be inspirational, sport players are supposed to be something you aspire to be, and while I have no love for sport, I would certainly like to be athletic, well groomed, have an attractive wife, and be very rich.
Not so much king of the starcraft US league. It's not something I would tell anybody if I was.
Then add devious and acting talent to the list.
As I understand it you're supposed to do that in order to get the other team disqualified. I approve.

I agree, sports, being it e-sports or normal sports aint interesting. Normal sports has a use (exercise), but proffessional sporters has no use at all, they get paid for exercising, and for some reason people enjoy watching them run around on a field kicking on a tiny ball or such. I understand the thrill if you include betting, but then you could just as well play dice or card games.
Why doesnt ppl who like sports just go join a team themself and play? Atleast then they get exercise (possibly even have fun), and maybe tv would stop showing sports.
EDIT:
Ofcourse I understand why you want to have tournaments if you participate in it (especially if you can win money), I just dont get why people would like to watch.

Feats of athleticism are entertaining to watch for many people. Same reason you televise the olympics. Even I can enjoy watching well performed athletics.
Watching someone play TF2 however, not so much.

You're also supposed to accuse opposing players of aimbotting in FPS games in order to get them banned.
Good way to win certainly.
I knew you were an aimbotter whenever I see you play Scout on TF2!
