Was about time they put Prince of Persia on sale, too. Ten bucks for Warrior Within? Pff, like I'm paying that.

Edit: Wow. In hindsight, this game isn't even worth two and a half bucks. I heard that they ###### WW up really bad and that's why I didn't buy it, but I didn't realise just HOW bad. It's like they made it as ###### as they possibly could on purpose.

Super Meat Boy is pretty great (1000 deaths and going strong!), but you really REALLY need a gamepad (currently only 360 gamepads are supported)
The keyboard just does not cut it.

As for Fallout 3 GOTY, well, its cheaper than all the DLC combined, and includes all the DLC. If I hadn't sworn off Bethesda DLC due to their 'solution' to Oblivion installer problems with Windows 7/vista* I'd pick it up.

*The solution was to (rather than upload the new, working installers that they had already made,) tell people who had already purchased the digitially distributed content, to leave their homes, go to the nearest computer store and pay a second time to buy the boxed copy of the DLC which had the working installers on it.

C&C3 and ARMA 2 picked up.
Would have stretched the bank to get Mass Effect 2 but disappointed its only gone down 25%

Whats the issue with Fallout 3 and DLC on Steam? Is it fixable? This is another gem missing from my library.

Oh, there are no issues with Fallout 3 or steam dlc (That I know of) my problem was with oblivion when they were selling DLC out of their website store.

I've heard people say this, but I'm not sure I understand why they say it. If the controls are analog, then I get it, but I heard it's digital.

I am somewhat intrigued by this game, although I'm not sure I'd be able to contain the rage.

Do give Forgotten Sands a try though.

So, I see something called Oddworld in there, anyone know if it's any fun and worthwhile? I've heard of it long ago but never really anything substantial other then "lul so randum".

It's bull######. The only reason you'd use a gamepad over your keyboard is comfort; It retains no advantage in actual play, if anything it hinders it slightly from stick-turnaround time.

I've been playing it just fine on keyboard. You do get mad, but you never quite get mad enough to quit, because the moment you die it's less than a second for you to respawn at the start of the level and get going again. On top of that, each level has a rhythm all its own, and that respawn makes it easy to establish yourself in the rhythm of the level.

I know its too late for the sale, but I've been playing Super Meat Boy with a Saitek control pad without any issue or extra programs/configuration.

From the sale today, is BioShock 2 worth 10USD? I enjoyed the first game, but I didn't think it was brilliant or revolutionary.

If you enjoy Tower Defense games I'd strongly recommend Defense Grid: The Awakening. Solid gameplay and the story/narration is funny and entertaining.

I did not like Fallout 3 all that much. I enjoyed new vegas a lot though. Just finished it.

I would not recommend the witcher. The story is really good, but the combat is terrible and the game goes on literally forever. I'd wait for witcher 2 instead which looks a lot better.

Arcania on the other hand I can recommend. I loved part 1 and 2, 3 not so much due to a lot of bugs. Risen (same studio) was again really good. The new part apparently is a bit buggy, but the story and gameplay usually make up fir it.

I haven't played it. There's been a lot of backlash against it, as well as a lot of acclaim. Biggest problem I hear is it became more of a corridor shooter and you didn't really feel like a Big Daddy. That being said, huzzah for plasma combinations and the joys of protecting the Little Sister.

Personally I'd recommend it despite the so-so combat - but then my expectations were along the line of turn-based RPG ######, so I was pleasantly surprised to have a rudimentary combo system.

After playing for an hour on a new level Bioshock 2 crashed on me. No big deal until I realize the game doesn't have an autosave feature until you leave the level area (which can last for an hour or more)

Entertaining, but not worth playing through the level again to catch up to where I was so I'll just leave it.

Heh. Steam Calculator breaks on my account; doesn't list quite a number of games. Still sitting at just shy of 2500. That's going to grow, if the deals are as good as they were last year.

You can beat Bio Shock 2 in 7 hours total, just do it.

Oh, thats good to hear. There were some bugs on release and I lost track of all the patches (It felt like there were 5 in the first 4 days..) just going on what I heard on release.

As for the keyboard vs controller thing, I find I have better air control with a joystick. While my turning and jumps may be faster with a keyboard, it is more fluid and precise with a controller, levels I breeze through in the Dark World with my controller cause me to fumble around idiotically even in their light world versions with the keyboard :/

In terms of the sale, picked up The Witcher and the FEAR pack (Mostly for FEAR2). I have nothing to say because they are both huge downloads and haven't actually finished yet.

Wait, no, one thing to say: its very frustrating that the Steam considers the expansion packs in the FEAR bundle (Extraction point and Perseus Mandate) to be DLC, not expansion packs. This means that Steam will download them with FEAR whether you want them or not.
This is annoying for a couple of reasons:
One: They are not canon. The story in FEAR2 ignores all events in the expansions, as such they can only really muddle things up for new players.
Two: The expansions are not very good games.
Three: Perseus Mandate is a stand-alone expansion anyways. If I bought the retail packages Perseus Mandate would be playable on its own, and FEAR would be playable on its own.

Basically, I just don't want to have my download doubled, or tripled with sub-par content. Yeah, the steam DLC rules work great for actual DLC, content that plugs directly into your existing game. I'm glad that my Borderlands DLC is all downloaded to save me from potential save-file screwery, but Steam also supports traditional expansion packs for publishers who aren't lazy ######. I shouldn't have to download an extra 10gb of unrelated junk for a game that came out over 5 years ago.

It should be noted this is likely not Steams fault, Doom 3, Penumbra: Black Plague and Overlord all have large expansions available on steam, but do not require the expansions to come along for the ride when you download. This is just laziness on the publishers side, likely not wanting to put in a little extra work to make sure everything played nice.

The story is not nearly as ingenious as the first one but I felt very strongly pulled in by it nontheless later on. The powers can be used creatively and getting maximum points from filming enemies as you take them apart piece by piece is quite satisfying. The splicer trap can now reach level 2 or 3 so you can make double power or combine with plasmids. Setting 10 of those in a Rube Goldberg way can be quite hilarious. Also stupidly good looking and excellent 40s theme translation.

read a good article on Ars recently about steam's pricing and what it's doing to us.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/12...ame-pricing.ars

It's true. With such great sales so frequently, I'm sure never paying full price for a game again.

Then again, I never paid full price *before* either. So I'm definitely buying more games now.

Oh, to be a kid again, and actually have time to play all these affordable games.

Quite possibly the greatest source of revenue for Unknown Worlds would be placing its product in one of the Great Steam Sales at half-price. One could expect thousands of sales almost instantly, as well as a swelling playerbase which would ensure the game reaches a [stable] release.

Avoid Shattered Union, lest you are willing to use msconfig to disable RAM in order to play it.

Future Wars is not an adequate substitute, and alas my Gameboy Advance had met an unfortunate demise under the wheel of my room mate's car two years ago, so Advance Wars is no longer a viable option to get my Turn-Based-Strategy fill, as X-Com and Silent Storm are more in the tactical scheme of things.
