So the Mossie is now TR-specific? Awesome. Now we just need to give the NC variant an anti-armor gun that also one-shot's infantry, and the VS something that shoots death lasers from 100km away, and the game will be just as perfectly balanced as the original.
On the bright side, its good to see that Marcus Fenix is now fighting for the Terran Republic.

The VS get a new thing, called either Dyson or Scythe, information is sketchy.
I REALLY hope that's just guessing on your part. There's no way the only useful air-to-ground vehicle can be NC only. That's going to irrevocably skew the balance of outdoor combat towards the NC, forcing the game into the same kind of boring indoor slugging match PS1 became.

Its ok, the Reaver is a two-man vehicle now, and we all know that Air Chavs don't have any friends.
I don't see why, I thought the entire idea was the sides were asymmetric. Simply seems to me the Mosquito is gonna be the classic fast and fragile archetype whilst the reaver is tough and slow(er).
I presume the Vanu flyer will be able to do something unique and weird.
It's a balancing nightmare if one side has a single-seat fighter and the other side has a two-seat fighter. If they're roughly equivalent, that means the NC need to dedicate twice as much manpower to aircraft as the TR do, which means they lack manpower to dedicate to the ground fight. Trying to make one reaver equal to two mossies is going to be really difficult, and the TR will still have the advantage that two mossies can be in two different places at the same time. The only limited resource in Planetside is manpower. There is (or was in the first one at least) a hard cap on how many people you can bring to a fight, and a tank without a crew is nothing. GETTING a tank is easy, it's crewing it that is a problem. If one tank (or aircraft) requires twice as much crew as the other, that makes it more "expensive" in terms of the only limited resource.

Our payback for the prowler was the marauder. It was terribly situational because of the crew requirement and because it was easy prey for tanks and reavers alike, but if you could drive a fully manned marauder (our empire-specific buggy, if you need your memory jogged) into an infantry fight... We were three guys <i>literally</i> cackling like maniacs on teamspeak and the kills just kept piling on. For those five eternal, glorious minutes the VS were wheat before the scythe.

Oh god I hope the Marauder makes a comeback. It was the only empire-specific light vehicle actually worth a damn. And it fit in the vehicle bay of a Galaxy! Our outfit used to use them to get 3 extra guys into a hotdrop; stick 'em in the Marauder, stick the Marauder in the back. And unlike other vehicles, <i>the driver could wear heavy armor.</i> Of course vehicles dropped onto walls / buildings would despawn after 30 seconds... but that was all you needed. The sheer shock value of a heavily-armed pickup truck landing on top of the enemy was usually enough to score a few kills. Never actually crushed someone with one, but not for lack of trying.
We did the same, but with a Skyguard. Any time you made a galdrop, ever air chav would swarm to the area to farm some infantry kills. Then all of a sudden there's a Skyguard right in their face.
*trollface*
That said, I don't hope the Marauder makes a comeback, especially not with those manpower requirements. A few glorious occasions aside, it was just as useless as every other buggy. Except the Skyguard. The Skyguard was pure air chav-murdering bliss.
Lolfighter - I didn't realise you meant from that stand point, I see where your coming from now.
I think the way to balance it (and bear in mind we're not fully aware of how much you customize vehicles yet but it seems to be weapons and add-ons/equipment) is via how the reaver works. I'd have it so the pilot is responsible for the main dumbfire chaingun (or whatever) and Air-to-Air missiles and the gunner is responsible for bombs/Air-to-Ground missiles/whatever and each can't fire the others set of weapons.
So if you wanna fly the reaver with one pilot in an air superiority set-up/role tooled up with AA missiles thats fine and you just need the one pilot but for the full ground attack, Apache type reaver you need a gunner too.

Off the top of my head I'd assume that the reaver will have a pilot controlled air to air weapon but a gunner controlled bomb/rocket system for air to ground. Can't really think how else they'd do it.
I'd like that. That'd be a good solution to the whole "solo air chavs raping anything on the ground" problem. Question is, does that mean the mossie has no air-to-ground armament? Because otherwise that's just going to be the rambo's weapon of choice instead.
<img src="http://i40.tinypic.com/2dvn9ko.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> Here we have some reavers and a mosquito. Lots of reavers, even. Their armament suggests that they're indeed both capable of being refitted for any role. Their empty pilot seats suggests that all PS2 vehicles are haunted and seek only to destroy living beings. (src: <a href="http://www.planetside-universe.com/news-massively-new-conglomerate-qa-2611.htm" target="_blank">http://www.planetside-universe.com/news-ma...ate-qa-2611.htm</a> )
We tried that policy once. It didn't work. Turns out that if the pilot of a Galaxy ejects while there are still passengers in it, it just slows down and sort of floats there. Then when the last guy finally figures out what's going on and ejects, the entire transport comes crashing down on top of everyone who just jumped out of it. We managed to kill our entire squad that way. Not our finest moment.

8-barreled minigun? What's worse the art is so bad the cannon on the right arm apparently has like, ten.

Vanguard looks pretty cool.
The Gauss Rifle is the only weapon in planetside that I'll admit is unfairly overpowered compared to the other empire equivalents.
