    First impression: stuttering seems better, plays pretty well solo at least. Leap is back to being a starting ability, not sure if intentional. It seems bugged when moving, it hardly lifts you off the ground if you use it while running forward.

    Looks like this is the patch that includes the fade!

    No server are up yet. No idea if the lag issues is better. I am getting about 5-9 FPS more (i7 w/ amd 5870)


    Yeah, leap is messed up when you're pressing a movement key. Seems ok if you're not moving.

    I don't even own the game and I'm excited, if UW is moving to beta then this patch has to be a massive improvement fixing the main issues plaguing the alpha. Please post reviews for those of us who can't test yet!

    Yes. This IS the Beta update (first Beta version at least). The game now says: "Beta Build 155".

    Please don't assume this.

    Regard the game as an early alpha, it seriously isn't beta material at all. Still shocked frankly that the devs think it is.

    Leap aside, this is actually feeling playable - such a HUGE improvement on the last patch.

    It's feeling good! (till we crashed the server somehow :P)

    Might have been my sentry *cough*.

    Also, I noticed when groups of marines are together it puts them in a fluid red blob, do I detect squad combat? :D I think so!

    So you were in a multiplayer game? How many players? I guess the first concrete bit of info we have is that the server crash bug hasn't been fixed for Beta :/
    edit - or the connection problems :/

    Isn;t there usually a changelist with these patches?

    Details? Is it "could not connect to server"?
    If so, did you restart Steam AFTER the update?

    This is definitely a big improvement in playability over last patch, I was playing on a crap ass listen server and it still played smoother than my own offline game was before. Definitely rough for a "beta" but no point dragging on that argument.

    Another bug: Switching between servers doesn't seem to reset your scoreboard. I started an offline server and saw a full list of people, with my own name on there 3 times. I got disconnected from those servers involuntarily so that might have to do with it.

    Actually, I have. I'm certain that it isn't beta material because it is barley alpha material, they should have kept it in-house until build 144 but they felt like they had to give us something ( at the time I was ###### about us having nothing! ). Sure, it is playable for some with ridiculous computers, but what the majority of gamers regard as beta material most defiantly isn't a game they can't play.

    Flayra has said in the other thread that they have bug fixed a lot of stuff with multiple performance tweaks but I'm still not feeling it. When the ###### storm of forum posts begins tomorrow about people saying they pre ordered for this closed beta after seeing the fade reveal so they could play around get back to me.

    I just saw a tooltip "Press right-click to leap from a standstill!" Is this maybe the new base behavior with mobile leaps being an upgrade?

    Edit: Yep, "Running Leap" is on there as an upgrade. I don't know about that, stopping to leap is so awkward - I would prefer if it was just a very weak leap until it was upgraded.

    Thats' my whole point, im waiting to hear from people who have actually played build 155 rather than people who are dissillusioned by the latest alpha builds and haven't gotten into legit 10v10 multiplayer matches

    I created my own server for a bit, before getting a runtime error.

    The hitreg seems so much better, and I was getting a constant 35-40 FPS on a 8800 GTX, Q6600 2.4 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.

    Way smoother, ran into a few cases where the server crashes but it was smooth until that point. We need more servers!

    memory usage grows on server till about 1.8gb, then crashes.

    Amount of connections may be leading to this, bordering on ddos lol.

    CPU usage seems much better, hovers around 10% on quad.

    FPS are a bit better, but now I'm getting disconnected a lot.

    Is the Fade actually in?
    It's greyed out and I couldn't buy it in LAN.

    I got this too, mem just loads up and then it goes down. but runs really smooth untill then, fade looks funny from comm view....lol

    Seems like there is actual improvement it is quite playable even, however after 2-5min you get connection error and you have to restart client in order to join any server again.
