I'm not 100% sure but player warping and server latency vs. video memory aren't the same issue are they?
I mean the player warping (rubber band effect) is from what i have understood is server/client timestamp but the lag is from video (physx) performance isn't it?
We're not totally sure the warping is fixed (it's complicated) but we've been testing a lot and there are definitely improvements.
We want to release something to you as soon as it's ready, but don't want to give you something that you'll stop playing after 10 minutes because of some big bug! We're focused on the next patch though.

Nope. Completely different. In theory.
The tricky part is if you're using PhsyX as your underlying physics engine, you have to make it understand lag compensation as well and adjust where objects end up. Which may not be something PhysX is comfortable with. I have no idea since I've never done any PhysX work.

I totally agree, take the time you guys need to give us something playable, don't mind those who say to hurry up... :D
Also, Flayra, if you are not "totally sure" about a fix, then shouldn't it be left as Delivered and not Accepted?

I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing. This is probably just the first iteration of their on-going performance tweaks to eventually iron out warping.

More about features that are beeing implemented. If everything would be set already they'd prolly call it beta. At least thats my understanding of the naming. Beta == feature complete but buggy.
A patch version so ambitious that they will never finish creating fixes/changes/additions or believe it to be in a form that we will completely appreciate for a period of time greater then 10 minutes. Therefore it is unobtainable. Perhaps even made of pure unobtainium? :P

I think fade and heavy won't come until beta, maybe dynamic infestation and siege cannon won't be in the alpha too. For now the main score is to create something playable and exciting during the alpha, after all. :)

wouldn't all of the aliens need to be in game before we can call it a beta? they're a major foundation of this game. anything that gets added in beta should be minor.

Great job Max!!!
Lets hope for the next build today :D
I'm so optimistic.
UWE bringing da funk N da noize!

Good to hear.

And considering how much has been fixed... it's going to be a doosey. I'm going to say over 1GB.
With some product in alpha its not about whats beeing left out. More about features that are beeing implemented. If everything would be set already they'd prolly call it beta. At least thats my understanding of the naming. Beta == feature complete but buggy.
And I agree, Beta involves the core elements completed (mostly) and ready for extensive testing.
They replaced patch 152 with patch ∞.
