Progress over a week old gets cleared out. Don't worry, though. With the amount of fixes that were accepted, I'd say it shouldn't be long before there is enough content for another patch.

Having lots of skills makes you more employable, but you generally expect to be paid for all the things you're doing, a company can either pay you say £30k a year to do two jobs, or they can hire two people who are specialists in single areas, and pay them say £20k a year each but get twice as much work done because there's two of them, and probably at higher quality. Much smarter.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Ironically there are some niche specialized regions where this is the complete opposite. Medical informatics for example has found it much easier to employ people in the medical profession who have some programming training to do their programming for them instead of getting a highly specialized uber programmer.
There are also plenty of places where a generalist is really, really helpful. See most of System Engineering where a generalist is king.
Food for thought (that has nothing to bear on the current discussion).

Okay, with their current work on the cinematic-editor and speculation about the Fade, I'm totally guessing we'll be seeing a Fade reveal this week. To spend time working on the cinematic editor at this point (if he's not going crazy only working with latency-issues and whatnot of course) does raise suspicion...

So the Lerk has a alternate fire zoomable high-precision sniper mode? Hope the marine gets a zoomable mode also.
that nightcrawler video on the twitter feed has made me nearly cream myself about what the fade is going to look like. really cannot wait, should be fecking awesome.

Yeah, fade would have been nice, but I think fixing the player warping/lag needs to be the top priority, as it's stopping people from playtesting properly. Hopefully a new patch is forthcoming :)
I looked into that. According to the internet it is to do with physics collision detection. Something to do with the number of times it is registered every frame, and that it works differently between computers. Which is apparently why you need variable not fixed timings, because on some computers the timings will differ so objects might be moving so fast through the level, that before it has time to register it has already moved through a wall.
Could be wrong. Interesting stuff though.
I am guessing it is the 'player warping' that is the rubber banding that is being worked on.

I assume this will help fix the rubber-banding effect?
