Staring at the marine's butt and pondering the ass plate issue, I have come to the conclusion that it would look less jeans-y if there were no back pockets.

Here is the old concept for those who haven't seen the whole thing in a while and want to compare. I think the old one look a bit more futuristic in the top part but that the new one fits much better with the overall bulky style of TSA. I also like the new use of colour.
And thanks to those who enjoyed my fan art version of the black armor.

That's what i was missing. A holographic visor would be awesome.
I was thinking about all the posts i have seen here about the face, people wants diffrent ones in game maybe the community could do something about that when the tools is released. I mean IT IS a nice feature but come on its not that important how many times u stoped to look at a marines face in ns 1 or his ass for that matter :D . trust me u will be busy alot looking around to not get ur self bettin by a skulk or eaten by a onos. and as far as im consern ill be looking at the envoirment more than the marine face or what ever, I mean look at the background how much details on that wall alone there is.
"Where's the reveal? We need videos not pictures! =D "
Well, it was stated that it was an art reveal not a video reveal, however, I would like to see a bunch of 'rines rushing out to build an "RT" in a room with a spinning fan casting light and shadow on to their armor as they run past. Perhaps there's also some orange lights near by that highlight the lower areas (of the armor, legs, etc. just like the renders).
When they finish building, a marine hears a sound, turns around, gets knocked over and takes cover behind a crate, he sees shadows on the wall showing his teamies getting ambushed by skulks (leaping in?). We also hear some muzzle flashes and screams off screen, evidence of battle. Crate 'rine stands up, to see the RT gone, pools of blood and gibs of marines. Then a skulk bites his face off (skulk mouth covers camera). Cue NS2 end film animation + website display 'pre order now'; and include a note ALL FOOTAGE WAS TAKEN FROM IN-GAME RENDER (seeing as a LOT of people still have trouble understanding this).

I like that, sound very nice and I allso agree on the "note ALL FOOTAGE WAS TAKEN FROM IN-GAME RENDER" part maybe have it at the start of the video.
I allso had this idea that we could do when alpha is out, and its basiclly recording a hole game and then cutoff some parts to fit it in a 20m video where we show marine and khara gameplay and we could also have a comentator much like the starcraft 2 videos that came out for a while ago, this way we can put it up so many people that didnt play the first one see what they are missing and maybe buy it.
HERE I found one <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/battle-report-starcraft-ii/51804" target="_blank">http://www.gametrailers.com/video/battle-r...rcraft-ii/51804</a>
Okay, I was in the "Charlie's just screwin' with us, that ain't really in-game.." camp until a few minutes ago.
Then I opened up the big pic and took a look, specifically at the armor plating on the hip. Look at the scratches. Exact same type and placement on each marine. That ain't something an artist would do if they were drawing the whole picture.
That I had to do that to believe Charlie I think speaks louder about how good this is than any words I could put to it.
As to the various debates: Butt armor -- not aesthetically pleasing, but the truth is, the first bite on most marines is from behind. Realism-wise, some kind of protection there (skirting from the back plate perhaps?), especially since the story is the armor has been updated to address the areas the marines were getting hit as opposed to those they weren't, seems reasonable. That said, armor placement on the model I doubt is going to affect gameplay, so perhaps aesthetics should win and either nanites or marine flatulence brought forward as the reason why rear armor was not deemed necessary. Worse comes to worst, and you can claim those pockets may actually be plates under the titanium-denim padding.
3rd person visible holo-lights -- yes please. Although I'd suggest making the lights fairly small from the third person view, so that you have to be reasonably close to the marine to discern what state the marine is in. If aliens can pick that out while being shot at.. and have it do them any good.. more power to them.
Other comments: More mobile marines? We're probably talking dives and rolls here, right? Maybe climbing? I hope climbing. Hah.. I hope climbing that can be improved by armor upgrades. (have climbing take some sort of energy, and when that runs out, marine falls.. certain classes of armor make it easier.) Oo.. GI Joe armor.. super jumps.. getting all excited here on speculation.
Armor lights connected to the grid sounds very keen. Depending on degrees, perhaps armor lights work if you're in or next to a powered sector.. I can imagine the fun it'd be to have marines moving along into Kharaa territory and suddenly their lights go out, leaving them not only in the dark, but knowing that the Kharaa have taken over the place they would have retreated to.
