I agree. They're still making changes to it, though I think their current system seems to be relatively balanced. It doesn't seem to suffer from the high lvl vs. low level too much, but at least the the low level can make some impact... they have to use their class correctly.

Are you sure you have to swap codes? Is there some advantage? It's unclear.
I'm unsure about the referral code myself. I think you're supposed to give it to people who are going to make new accounts (which is silly because I've already told lots of people before we even got these :p ) and it increases the chance of both you and the referred getting in. I'm not sure if they're going under the idea of trying to get guilds in together or what so they'll have some organised groups storming about or if it's purely just a 'word of mouth' attempt at advertising (which I still think is a bad idea for betas as they're never the best representation of a game :p ).
I suspect you can only have 1 referral code attached to your account too though I haven't checked (ie: only one person can count as referring you).
Swapping codes would look a little odd on their data though (if they check it); "they both referred each other? how is this even possible! it means they simultaneously discovered and recommended the game to each other at the same precise moment! zounds!!!" :3
