<div class="IPBDescription">For once, Australia gets something first.</div>Long story short, EBgames Australia is selling spore early, for some reason.
Happy days.
I rang up EB in the city this morning and reserved the last two copies there. I then enlisted my ladyfriend to rush in and pick them up. I just got home from work and I'm installing it now. I'll report back soon with my findings. She's been playing it for a few hours now and is enjoying it muchly.

Do all of what you just said, but faster!
Hooray for retailers, that dont care about the official release date <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Make sure you play through each phase on hard. It'll take a bit longer, but the transitions between the phases is SO MUCH AWESOME when you finish them on hard.
My race of xenocidal flying ants is doing well so far.

Maybe I should just wait patiently for my own copy.

Yes, yes you should. I shan't spoil it.

What does this 6 month deal mean on EA store anyways... That I have to extend the licence for the game each 6 month by paying them? What a load of crap...

No, you have unlimited (IIRC) downloads with in a 6 month period, you must pay them $5 if you want to download it after that.
Unfortunately I can't remember if you can burn the file to a disk or not.
Either way, EA is scum for that one as the other DD companies I know give you unlimited downloads for the life of the company, and you can generally burn the file to disk (Direct2Drive does it this way, Steam obviously does it this way, etc etc)
Maybe I should just wait patiently for my own copy.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
the intensity of your posts is amplified by the shouting scout next to them, which makes it very hard to suppress LOL'ing at work.
or is that L'ing OL?
anyway, I didn't even realize the spore release was nigh. Spore was kind of in Duke Nukem Forever status for me. Hard to believe it's actually upon us. I must purchase.
I hate flying ants in real life so that idea just creeps me out.
I'm going to make a giant boot race that loves everyone except flying ants.
Did anyone else read that as "Steam (duck) EA store"?
... No.

(perhaps not the best of Nedroid comics, but it was timely!)
I like it.
I guess there's no point in postponing the inevitable. I just might buy Spore tonight <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
There's a huge amount of stuff to do once you're in space, I haven't begun to scratch the surface.

I CAN'T FIGHT OFF THREE ARMED TRIBES WITH MARRACAS! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

Are they perhaps of the Lee life form?

then it is indeed impossible to stop them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
IGN's <a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/907/907454p1.html" target="_blank">video review</a> is an extremely accurate account of the gameplay.
Don't buy Spore because you want to have fun playing with your creatures. Buy Spore because you want to create and then share your creatures.
Almost all stages (I didn't make it into space, got too bored, but I've heard Space was actually the worst) are dumbed down so ridiculously so that the game actually becomes a boring grind devoid of any fun. The only things I disagree with on the IGN review is the replayability and the over-all high score. I would have given it a 7.0.
I want to obliterate my foes with deadly-deadly volcanoes >:|
(The tide-pool phase is pretty fun, I would have really liked it if you could customize your little.. bug.. thingy some more. (Shape/items)
Like that IGN review says, spore is a very impressive piece of work, it's just not a particularly great game.
Terraforming is fussy and requires lots of money that I don't have. In fact, I just can't seem to get a good economy going. MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS to buy a star system? That's never going to happen.
This makes me sad.
