<div class="IPBDescription">Release on Steam</div>Hi,
Valve have released the Steamworks SDK to a few mod authors to then release their (free) mods via Steam.
<a href="http://steamreview.org/posts/steamworksmod/" target="_blank">http://steamreview.org/posts/steamworksmod/</a>
I know UW already have access to the SDK (Suduko), but what about releasing NS1 under Steam (if thats doable) to try and get some more players going?
Could help!
Thoughts?

One thing I ask is that if this is done, please make most of the achievements classic only, because It just seemed like the community was so much more healthy when there were a lot of classic players.

It doesn't specifically say so, but I would imagine so.
<b>Update:</b> I pinged the appropriate folks at Valve to see if we can make this happen.

Yes, this new half-life patch currently killed NS... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
If developers don't patch this at weekend ASAP, maybe most of players find another mod = NS fully died...

I think most of the people still playing NS are hardcore enough about it to NOT run to another mod just because NS is down for a day or two.
asmodee has fix it and is running a NS classic server at the moment but the comm has some small bugs (cant see who the comaander is. the com will not show up on the scoreboard a waypoint bug)

What other mod will they move too for Half-Life?
Many people asked me if they knew what was wrong with their games, and they couldn't connect to any of their Half-Life mods either...

I also heard about other mods being effected, but now back on topic.
I'm not sure if NS1 should be added to Steam for a variety of reasons. <b>First is Vista</b>. If you look at the Valve Hardware Survey you can see that almost 20% of people on steam are using Vista. Yes I know about the cl_gammaramp 0, but that doesn't fix all the problems. Most computers come with Vista today and in June of 09' Windows 7 will be released. No doubt Windows 7 will have the same problems. <b>Second is the community</b>. The NS community is full of veteran players and they aren't kind to new players. If you don't know what to do prepare to be yelled at.
That said, I would prefer the NS2 team work on NS2. It looks like they have made good progress. I'm sure lots of people will return when NS2 is released.
I don't yell.....
It only takes one or two people to get frustrated a new player to ruin the game.
Then again, If the new players don't ask or make it aware that they are new we can't give them the support they need.
<i>Impossible to find server or address "on status <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />" using DNS table. Please use ping -help for usage.</i>

Any News?
Could you maybe ask them again, to remind them of the matter? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
I'd really like to see NS1 on Steam.
