I'd really like to see NS1 on Steam.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
How many times guys, seriously. It isn't in Valve's or UWE's best interests to promote NS1 on Steam. It <b>will not happen</b>.

Heh, thats your word against theirs then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Flayra said it will happen, Valve did too. Just a question of time. And I wanted to know the status, after a few months of silence.
Edit: Also, about your "best interest" statement: Could there be <b>any</b> better promotion and publicity for Natural-Selection 2, than the original game, free on Steam?

Not really, it's my inside knowledge against your ignorance. From what I remember, Charlie said he'd emailed Valve about it, and that they'd said they were interested. This is how Valve works, they very rarely say no to anything semi-reasonable. They say "Oh yeah sure we're interested ... we'll get back to you about it." It isn't in anyone's best interests to promote a game on HL1 engine - this is why no HL1 mods have been released on Steam, whereas about 10 Source mods have (including the one I work on).
However, you clearly can't seem to grasp this, so I'm just gonna give up trying to explain it. Keep looking forward to NS on Steam, it'll be here next month honest. Along with Nexus and the BUS...
I am sure once NS2 comes out, there will be a strong sense of releasing NS on steam. Once steam supported Zombie Panic Source, along came the original one for hl.

The original Zombie Panic is not hosted on Steam, and neither us nor Valve have any intention of changing that.

We'll see marks. Your "inside knowledge" is not impressive at all. Apparently you don't want NS1 to be released on steam for some reason.
Flayra's last message on this looked more promising than your pessimism at least. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
No reason to stop hoping until we heard an official NS developer say so.

We've gone back and forth with Valve on this several times over the last few years (!) and it truly looks like it is not going to ever happen at this point. We would love it, but Valve doesn't seem to believe it makes sense from their point of view (they're paying for bandwidth and not making any money directly for this). I don't believe they would let us put it up on Steam for sale either, as they don't want to promote the Half-life 1 engine any more.
Sorry folks, we really tried but it's out of our hands.
