I've changed my mind on TPV after reading my older post in the TPV topic darktimes dug up. I'll just quote what I said there.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->To paraphrase Max, why give players a choice when one option fits better? TPV is better for melee, but melee only makes up a part of aliens abilities and it would make movement and projectile abilities more difficult. On top of that TPV camera's are notoriously difficult to perfect in small corridors/rooms (~80% of NS).<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I think that the mouth camera is fine... As long as you keep your target centered you shouldn't have a problem. And as far as the third person thing goes all you need to do is para the marine and then stalk him until he is vulnerable.

You blink and aim just like always.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Due to the fact that you have third person view, you will be seeing everything from <b>behind</b> the unit. When using abilities like blink and leap, you need a very good sense of judgment as to where you are and where you're going, which TBH can only be obtained in first person view. This is because your seeing things from the perspective of the unit. When going around corners and such, due to the fact that the camera is behind the unit you won't have the same reaction speed and sense of co-ordination as you would if you were using first person view, ultimately making the game harder for you.

Game harder for you = game extremely harder for new players = lose.

Well the 3rdperson cam didn't work for me on the HL engine, but in jk2 or jka it works perfectly, even when you need to aim. The floating crosshair would, I would think, solve all those problems.
