Taking Control Of Dead Marines

<div class="IPBDescription">As an alien, take control of a Marine's body.</div>Okay, I'm new here, but I've been playing NS for quite some time. I've recently started playing at every possible moment. Anyways, I have an idea I'd like to share with you guys.

It would be a new class of alien, a bit like a parasite.

What happens is after a Marine has been killed a member of the alien team can go up to the Marine's corpse and select the option to gestate into the Marine's dead body. It takes a while to gestate, but once it's done, you control the Marine's body.

You look like a Marine and this would allow you to sneak past the enemy team and get into their base without anyone noticing. You can attack the machinery or other Marines with guns and other weapons you pick up off the ground.

This may seem like a huge advantage for the aliens, but I thought of several ways to even it out:

1. The Marine's body currently under control has scars and a slightly different skin tone. A sort of Zombie look, so that fellow Marines can identify a real Marine from a fake one.
2. The 'zombie' Marine is not allowed to access the commander's chair.
3. You can't shoot/walk as fast as the other Marines and your health is lower.
4. You can't gestate into another species once you have gestated inside the Marine's corpse.

Anyone agree/disagree? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

That's not a bad idea but I don't think it fits into Natural Selection. It seems too... Alien. You know the movies. But here are my comments anyway:

    1. Not zombie-looking but alien-looking because NS is all about aliens vs. marines.
    2. I totally agree.
    3. RoF (if it could shoot in the first place) depends on do we want this infilrated alien to be a new type of alien or like a Skulk in marine suit of armour. In that case, HP would be same as Skulk (70) but armour would be Skulk + LA marine [10 (+ carapace?) + 30 (+ armour upgrade)].
    4. I suggest that an alien will be able to leave the corpse like it can evolve back to Skulk. There should also be a nice animation for the takeover that would play reversed when leaving the suit of armour.

The movie series Alien, Aliens, Aliens3, A.:R. and AvP? I would think the way the idea is put forward it is more like The Thing, as a parasite taking the recently deceased and imitating them for infiltration reasons.

    I have a few questions:
    1) Before the Kharaa creature is imitating a TSA marine, what does it do then?
    2) By what method could it use that the other TSA marine's wouldn't automatically know its a Kharaa by nature of it running back into base without any orders from the Commander?
    3) What happens to the player who the Kharaa is imitating - Spawn back in? Wait like digesting? With new customization options possibly becoming available, how might the Kharaa creature avoid meeting the "real" marine and it being obvious because they look the same?
    4) If it is just to enter the marine base, don't Kharaa already accomplish this to some degree with cloak? Or do you desire something that defeats the observatory and motion tracking?
    5) If the Kharaa marine infiltrator uses a weapon on anything TSA marine, how does the game take into account for Friendly Fire Disabled being on?

Just some thoughts, I could have sworn a similar idea has been presented before and it needed to have these points and probably more clarified before it could make sense to the NS2 game play from what we know in NS1, even though that will be changing.

could be fun, but not sure it fits ns. Many people have different takes on this and have suggested it in one way or another.
My favourite being (can't find the thread)
SKulks can take back marine body's to the hive, the hive then transforms the body and alien into one. The infested marine looks completley normal except when you get very close you can tell its not quite right + maybe some kind of alien noise emits form the marine that you can hear if you are close. The marine can't do anything except for walk/run, and it can explode when the alien controller decides to.

but i'm pretty sure that its been said somewhere that any type of dead body gameplay stuff would be too gory for the ideal audience (everyone which means it can't be too gory or scary)

Mmm... i dont think itd fit NS too well. Kharaa dont really seem like the body stealing type.

the only thing id possibly like to see with bodies, is feeding, so skulks could heal off a marine they just killed, early game.

and then other marines could hear feeding, and rush in for the kill!

    much like aliens hear reloading.

    x2.

Alien possession of dead bodies just seems...rather odd in NS.
