IPB v2.3 Skin and Forum Issues / Suggestions

Being totally familiar with IPB v2.3 (front and back ends) I find it necessary to start a list here. Administrators may be aware of some of these issues, but no list exists so I'll start one. Btw, I already expressed my appreciation in KFDM's thread...

First off, an excellent CSS Guide to help you set font and background colors: <a href="http://www.invisionpower.com/files/ipb22cssguide/" target="_blank">IP.Board v2.2 CSS Guide</a>. The version is 2.2 but works for 2.3.

Settings are disabled (or not visible) in the personal profile for a member to adjust Notification Options, Moderation Options, and Settings. Font color inside the info boxes down the left side of a profile needs to be changed so it is visible (currently to dark).

Smilies are not showing in the post screen box. "Show All" produces a list on white background and the images do not show. And please, add a few of the more common, popular ones.

Board Message when there are no new posts appears on a very light background with very light text.

Detailed search feature (screenie [url="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102400"]here[/url) and Help are missing from the member bar. These I think should be a priority.

User, calen, and stats gifs in the board footer in addition to various other macros are from the default (light blue) skin.

Clicking on ones username topside should place them in their profile, not My Controls. Works normally from online users.

My Controls, My Assistant, and My Friends are all missing from the userlinks.

When a user edits a post, there should be an input box so the author may show the "reason edited" - it is missing.

Merge member's concurrent posts is disabled.

popmenu-item text is white on a very light background, rendering it unreadable. This is your Forum Options (and other) dropdown boxes.

Report post mechanism does not work, confirmed by puzl.

Archive messages does not work from the UCP.

That's it for now, I'll add to this as things pop up. Keep up the good work guys. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Agreed. First post edited with a couple of more missing features.

    For me at least, it looks like the hover button for member names is larger than the link button. It seems to be increasing the height of its given row.

    Also, for some reason Kung foo disco monkey's member name is below the small avatar icon while everyone else's are side by side. The combo of these two things makes my screen shudder when hovering over his name.

    Definitely a skin issue. One of the skins on my forum does the same thing.

    But hover on any members name, and you'll notice the entire post screen shifts a tad.

    Icons need alt and (where meaning is not clear) title tags.

    For example:
    <img src="http://www.packmule.org/tenp/mysteryicons.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    I had to look up the file names to figure out what these meant. I'm guessing that this needs to be done for almost all the icons.

    Also, the attachments area is borked.
    <img src="http://www.packmule.org/tenp/borkedattach.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Yeah, it's going to be a learning process. One of those icons is "user online", another is "user offline" and the third befuddles me.

    They should add the ability to edit your posts, so that if you think of something you want to add later you can just append it rather than having to make a whole new one and spam your signature or whatever.

    Try re-reading the topic title again TC. When someone comes up with an idea, issue, or suggestion it gets posted here. It doesn't matter if I add something or someone else does, everyone has a right to add to this thread. And since you haven't noticed, when a thread gets posted in it appears in View New Posts and people are notified - there's a reason for why it's done that way.

    Hopefully they'll contribute something and the Admins will have a centralized thread at their disposal for issues or suggestions. Unfortunately you failed to contribute. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    "Filter by member name" and "Search titles only" can be extremely helpful, particularly when a large database is involved.

    Do you feel it would put undue strain on the webserver as a result?

    Topic view: when you mouseover the bottom line of the popmenubutton at the top of the userinfo table it sometimes quivers and shakes uncontrolably. A good example is KFDM's post <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=101945&view=findpost&p=1647899" target="_blank">here.</a>

    Just mouseover just below his name at the upper left corner of his post, as if you were going to view his profile, you'll notice it.

    So basically you just want people to think "oh, hey, Depot's posted. Let's worship him and his amazing knowledge." Which is contrary to my first though of "Oh, look, Depot's spamming the thread 'cause he thinks he's a genius and wants to stand out."

    You said it yourself:

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Merge member's concurrent posts is disabled.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    You know that your posts are supposed to merge but you don't care.

    EDIT - Related to the light text on light background thing:

    <img src="http://xs319.xs.to/xs319/07365/uwlighttext.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Merge concurrent posts is enabled on any IPB board I frequent daily (12 - 15) so of course it's a habit that I'd post within 3 to 5 minutes and expect it to be merged with my last post here.

    The screenshot Jimmeh posted shows the light text on light bg issue, thanks. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    According to puzl's post <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=102686&view=findpost&p=1658044" target="_blank">here </a> the report post mechanism does not work, and was blamed for that particular thread continuing after it was reported.

    Of course, I've yet to hear an explanation why PMs to administrators and IMs on IRC to the same were ignored. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Btw, I discussed at length with Comprox a mod that would easily install that posts reports as topics in a selected forum, allowing ALL admins and mods to be aware of all reported posts, and providing a thread for the same to view and reply to.

    Nice try, no cigar. One of the 2.3.2 bugs was the failure to upgrade the version number. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    "Today's active topics · The moderating team · Today's top 20 posters · Overall top 20 posters" font color needs to be changed - it is currently to dark for viewing.

    To change this font color go to ACP / LOOK & FEEL / Edit Stylesheet (CSS Advanced Mode) and find:

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->.borderwrap table th a:link,

    So, that is the stuff from your list that has been fixed. Some other stuff:

    Name hover (add invisible border) (prevents the design from moving when hovering over a name)
    OPtions menu top right of all pages, when clicked
    Today's active topics · The moderating team · Today's top 20 posters · Overall top 20 posters made proper link color
    Profile page, tab colours
    Profile page, options text/add comment/add comment box/male/country/born
    Profile page, picture background colour
    Code quote box

    These have only been done on the /forums/ design, not the /ns/ or /ns2/ designs yet. They will be moved over. More work may be coming, we shall see.

    From your personal profile view you will see five tabs. the rightmost being "Settings". Select it and you will see that Personal Photo, Personal Statement, Your Website, Notification Options, Moderation Options, and Settings are all missing from the center.

    Today's active topics · The moderating team · Today's top 20 posters · Overall top 20 posters are still to dark. Imho they should be the same color as "Delete cookies set by this board · Mark all posts as read" so they have more contrast.

    Profile page tab colors look good. All text inside of blue rectangles down left column of PP is invisible.
