<div class="IPBDescription">Damn fine gaming.</div>So, the immediate I LOVE THIS GAME YUM YUM HAPPY <3.
Pros:<ul><li>Graphics are nothing short of amazingly phenomenal. An art style that totally works completely makes the world of Rapture look so much more...perfect. Well, in a grisly, dirty, everything is falling apart way.</li><li>Sound is awesome. Great old-time music(that totally fits the atmosphere perfectly), voice acting that is great, and voice acting for enemies that makes your blood curdle.</li><li>Immersion. This game puts you in Rapture, and doesn't want to let you go, even if you want out(When the demo ended I suddenly realized I had backed against the wall there...)</li><li>Fun weapons. The wrench is good and all, but then you get 2 others weapons and 2 "Plasmids"(like superpowers): First, the Revolver and the Machine gun, are tons of fun. The Revolver is a real powerhouse if you've got the aim to blow someone's head off, and the Machine Gun just puts 'em away.</li><li>The plasmids you get are electrocution, and incenerate- and quite simply, they're awesome. Electrocute water to get all the enemies in it, set guys on fire, or even parts of the environment, to block your enemies from you.</li><li>Also, you get the chance to hack one of the flying Security Bots to work for you. Quick, fun minigame, and what you get for it is awesome.</li><li>THIS THING IS EFFIN CREEPY. So intelligently done, the horror- it has a few BOO moments(not DOOM3 style, but more like you expected the thing to move slower than that huge jump at your face), and a lot of "Oh crap I dont' like this" moments. Just the right amount of horror to keep me going, but to keep me scared, too.</li></ul>
Cons:
Um...the demo ended. Yeah. That was about it.
Oh, they also released the official trailer tonite. The funny thing is, while the trailer is completely pre-rendered, the game isn't actually that far off in graphical prowess.

The entire thing looks dumbed down for console users and the fact that they only seem to be showing off the console version justifys, to me, that they're aiming for a console, not a PC, game.
EDIT - They delay the PC game for a simultaneous release with the 360 version. They don't do anything along the sorts for the demo. The video's I've watched make the AI look non-existent; perhaps that was the point but some monster dropping down, attacking you, going back up and repeat? Doesn't seem very good to me.
I dunno, I'm still gonna buy it but my hopes get lowered every time some news gets released. The entire thing looks wrong to me, but oh well. And there's only 8 days left.
I still think this is going to be Deus Ex 2 all over again.

Well, you could make the same argument for Psychonauts. The controls and such were definitely designed with a console in mind, but it still works for the PC. Then again, Tim Schafer can do no wrong, so there's that.
Well PC Zone (uk mag) gave it 96%, so that sounds hopeful <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Score one for Epidemic
On Topic:
I will most likely rent or play the demo before i buy it. Otherwise there is no real telling whether the controls survived or not...
Having an XBOX 360 demo first makes me worried. Because of the original trailer (the one where he gets drilled through the chest by a Big Daddy) made me think the complexity of the game required it to be centered around the PC, but with the release of the XBOX 360 demo first, I worry that it's going to be aimed at the consoles. Console-to-PC gaming is usually pretty bad. FPS games on consoles are bad enough, but a port of one would be even worse.
I'd love to play, but my 360 isn't being nice right now :/

Open up Xbox.
Remove heatsink from cpu paste some quality heat-conducting-paste on it.
Apply heatsink.
enjoy your xbox
EDIT:
As an alternative you can also go for the xclamp mod:
<a href="http://dwl.modcontrol.com/XBOX360/ANLEITUNGEN/XCLAMP_CPU-GPU_K%DCHLK%D6RPER_FIX_ANLEITUNG.pdf" target="_blank">http://dwl.modcontrol.com/XBOX360/ANLEITUN...X_ANLEITUNG.pdf</a>
Its in german, but the 2 pics this guides includes is pretty much all you need (if you have some common sense and a little bit of screwing experience <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)
Things like auto-aiming (which is apparently not even an option unless there's a 360 pad plugged in to the PC), as well as a quick-switch menu exclusively PC etc... Apparently the hacking mini-game is designed slightly differently for the PC, too, to better take advantage of the mouse.
If they've done that, I'd say they've made sure the controls don't feel like they've been directly ported from a gamepad.
It also mentions that it runs flawlessly, at max gfx settings, on an Athlon X2 5200 and GeForce 8800, at 1600X900. I don't know if this means it'll run on mine, but I'll buy the game and update my comp around it, damn it.
PUS-FILLED OOZE BUCKETS.
Grr.

I really hope they didn't dumb it down too much, considering how many of us have been waiting for so long for it...

They've taken out actually seeing you kill the Little Sisters, which annoyed me. Don't get me wrong here, I don't actually WANT to see me killing a little girl... but if you've made a game where "slaughter little girl to harvest fluids" is an option, it's kind of strange they decided to wuss out of actually showing it. It makes the act... I dunno, hollow, and emotionless... although I guess you could say that is intentional (to show the calousness of the act, that the character doesn't feel remorse or whatever blah blah).
To be honest it reeks of "we're gonna get complaints, let's take it out to be safe".

if movies were forced to censor themselves as much as games are, the movie SAW would be nothing but the closing credits <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> we probably wouldn't have awesome, artful movies like Pan's Labyrinth either...
Also radForChrist, don't tamper with your xbox 360 like has been suggested. Red ring of light errors have a 3 year warranty on them. Opening your xbox 360 will only invalidate that warranty.

'Dumbing Down': Considering this is a shooter, and not a System Shock game, its more like its a very, very intelligent shooter.
The AI: The AI I've played with has moments of brilliance and moments that don't seem as smart as they could be. Awareness certainly seems to be the key in these issues- I would hear cries of "HE's OVER HERE!", and etc, up until my death- which landed me in a nearby pod-thingy(vita-chamber, I believe they are called). Upon exiting it, they didn't know where I was anymore, and I could pick most of them off until some more came in from the stairs.
PC Version Woes: Yeah, I wish the PC Demo was out. I wanna see how well it runs on my system. 2k Games said it will be out 'later this month'.
Trailer vs. Gameplay: I wouldn't say the gameplay is a Doom 3 clone, as its much more intelligently done- use your surroundings and etc, combine abilities, all that goodness. The trailer really is like a Godmode-sped-up version of the game. A lot of the things would kill you in game that happened in the trailer, and of course the game doesn't move THAT fast, but things like putting bombs on stuff and tossing them at people seem totally plausible, given what I've played.
I dunno why people say it just looks like an average FPS. It's System Shock underwater.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
And if you were to look at videos of people playing SS(1/2)?
It would LOOK like an average FPS (for its time).
I don't think movies and demos will really get the full feeling of BioShock, ever. What made SS so great was was story and immersion, something that I don't think can come through in demos/videos.
/me continues praying.
I actually preordered last night when I realized amazon will ship it for free with no tax <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Immersion seems to be Bioshock's biggest point of awesome. Its hard to describe how well they keep you in the game, but rest assured- they keep you there very well.
fortunately I don't have the choice, and thus I must wait it out.
however if a PC demo comes out I will be tempted.
heh, If I had the choice I would say wait it out.

yah, I know, I saw Quan's post. I am choosing to ignore this fact so that I don't tempt my self with it.
Is the demo at the beginning of the game or what ?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yes.
Edit: I'd say more, but this isn't a game you want to talk too much about for fear of spoilers. Even the opening has a dozen secrets in it, things you didn't piece together at first, when you play it a 2nd, 3rd, trillionth time.
