Kill Bill references so many things I can hardly believe that one mind can take them all in. Obviously, samurai movies and anime are a big part of it, but the story is a simple one (REVENGE! *death ensues*) that exists in many cultures and stories.

I think it was the movie Lady Snowblood (Shurayukihime) which was based on a manga.

I just love how over the top Kill Bill is. It's not exactly the deepest movie but it's entertaining, and that's what is important.

I saw the first half of the movie, maybe a bit more or less. I didn't really see the point. I mean I didn't much care what happened to that lady or Bill or any one of the people she went around killing.

I enjoyed both movies. Good action, good music, good story, good dialog. I think anyone that hated them either has a huge stick up their bung or doesn't know anything about star wars.

It's a good old fashioned Tarantino movie, and that, my friends is awesome.

I don't think you're supposed to care. The point of both films is artistic masturbation. It's about how it's filmed, how the scene plays out, how the action works, and the nods to previous directors works.

Yeah well I don't really care about other people wanking. For me it's the kind of thing that I only care about if I'm the one doing it.

    Yeahhh.

They're awful films, but hey, it's Tarantino; B-Movies by Hollywood.

    They're alright.

I think the worst thing about them is how anticlimactic they are. You start watching and you're thinking "Ooh, this looks like it's gonna be awesome". Then the story-building keeps on and on, how she goes somewhere to get a certain special something to do a certain special deed. Then she deals with the lady's minions which is awesome, and then when it finally comes down to it, you have what is one of the most underwhelming 'boss fights' ever to grace your retinas. Even the first few minutes in you're still thinking "Ooh, it's just gonna be a massive build-up of tension and then the awesome will totally break out". But it never does. It just subsides like a fart you threatened to inflict on someone which gets stage fright at curtain call and wafts into nothingness leaving you hunched double with nothing to show for it.

And that's what I think of Kill Bill.

From what I've heard about it, Kill Bill isn't the kind of movie I'll see for my own personal amusement alone. It's for seeing with friends or something, so you can laugh at it together. An opportunity hasn't presented itself yet, so here I am, not knowing if I'm missing anything. Which is quite an okay feeling actually. Can't miss something you've never known.

Kill Bill vol 1 was alright.

    Part 2, however, was great.

Fell asleep during both of them. Had seen it all before, but done better, and more original. As those movies he copycated from.

Well it turns out that Liku is an island in South-East Asian, or something. I'm not quite sure and I didn't know until years after I came up with the name. It looks pretty fuggin' sweet too:
