On a similar note, I got accepted to a college (And offered money!) which I never wrote the required essay for, or sent in the required letters of recommendation. heh.

It's ECU. They're not too picky <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
In fact, I'm pretty sure the rejection letter had the words 'flaming,' 'pile,' and 'dog excrement' in it.

None of the colleges in N.C. are picky.
Since Billy Donovan's coming back I think I'll return to U.F. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

Actually, the one Im referring to there was a different school (Drexel university). I was going to go to Drexel... except it's obscenely expensive, even after scholarships. Ill probably transfer out of ECU later to get more specialized classes. For now Im just happy that Im pretty far away from anybody I know.
We start around March, but since this is the first topic I've seen on the subject, I figured why not share the good news with the oh-so-lovely NS community <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
hehehehehehehe
that name confused the heck outa me for a while. the BF (And now husband) of one of my good friends in college went there.
Just b/c it is worth it, are you from Jenkintown? (apparently a massive number of peopel from Jenkintown go to IUP)
Oh, and on the note of IUP, they also have a good teaching program where you do 5 yrs (I tihn) and come out with your teaching license. (this is what my friend's husband did)

Nope, I'm not even from that side of the state actually... I just go there because it's relatively cheap, and relatively far from home.
Speaking of weird / annoying school names, my secondary school's name is "Wodensborough Community Technology College", which is all printed on the uniform.
Wodensborough is also annoying to write / type on forms over and over.
You think IUP's name is confusing? I live in Washington and whenever I say Washington University in St. Louis people keep thinking I'm going to some weird state college, or off to the capitol.

That's because leaving Washington State is insane.

I seriously read that as Hoboken, New Jersey.
I tihnk I need mroe sleep.
It's in the city of Indiana, PA (the birthplace of Jimmy Stewart) in Indiana County and has nothing to do with the state of Indiana.

What's with PA and using state names for their counties/citites. There's even a Jersey City, PA. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Yeah, well, tell that to my parents. They're the ones sending me off.
I had no idea there were so many newly college age people here on the forum... I thought most people were geezers like me. That means most of you guys must have been... 11 or 12 when joining the forum in '02 or so? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I got carded for alcohol today (...in Germany!), which officially makes me look 16; take that college senior status!

Actually, Pennsylvania is the "Keystone State", the one that held everything together. From our perspective, all of the other states totally ripped their names off our our cities and counties. I'm sorry our naming skills are eons ahead of your own.
(That's all a theory... I have no idea why our cities share names with your states, other than we both took the names from Europe.)
I should be progressing to 3rd year of my 5 year university course at Strathclyde over in the UK. All depends on if i have resits and if i get away with skiping a class and doing it in 3rd year instead!
Always wondered how different is US college to us here in the UK?
