Growing the NS female player base

I'm liking the female concept but I'd also like to see how she compares to the new male player models. Any chance we'll get to see the men in action soon?

i think robB is mostly afraid of male gamers choosing the female player model and using it inappropriately - which totally understandable.

j/k - and thats why to use the female player model you will need to enter your credit card into NS and it will check with the bank if you are infact a female, or if you are just wearing your mums gown and slippers.

But you can't really use male marines inappropriately so why would you be able to use female marines inappropriately? It's not like you can position players limbs and what not... ...I think it's silly to say that you shouldn't include something in a game, cause some childish n00b might do something silly with it. If we all worked on mights and maybes then we wouldn't have anything in this world because no one would ever take the risk.

Whatever, I just don't want to hop into a Server just to see female Models being chased all over the Map by Tentacles or horny Elephant-Rhino-whatevers with huuuuge "proboscises" as the whole Point of the Game.

Call me sick, but that's the first Thought striking me when you write "custom Content through LUA Scripting" and "female Playermodel".

Although a female playermodel is cool and all, 99% of the people here are fine with the male one and I would rather see the dev team focus on more important gameplay aspects than small details like this.

Statements like these bug me. I geuss I am part of that 1% who is bugged by the lack of female models, and decals, and colors, and ... well, you get the picture.

The concept designs for the the "female" marine are tasteful and varied. That is inspiring and gives me hope for the growth of the individual rewards for playing NS2 that add to the game overall.

BCSeph: I love it when people say 99% as if they can prove it. I kinda agree with your point, just not with your statistical analysis skills. I personally would like to see a female model in the game and other new cool things, but don’t want the developers to waste time on cool extras like this if it means that we loose out on important things like game play. But I’m sure they know what they are doing, so I won’t question it till I get a copy of the game.

Ok i'm a girl, i read the first two pages of this post and got sick of it so i thought i'd add my opinion in.

I don't like FPS i've tried several, got bored or annoyed with the sound of the gun and stopped. The only FPS game i have ever stuck to playing and truely enjoyed is NS.

Why? because i can be an alien <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> for me that is what makes this game great, i absolutely love being a lerk and supporting my team, (and trying to kill things tho i must admit my aim is crap <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)

This game is what it is and i doubt you can add anything specific to make it appeal to girls without ruining the whole thing. All i know is this girl loves playing an alien <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

With the introduction of female player models I see custom paris hilton models coming with a pink-clothed, sweet-chuckling skulk in her arms.

my girlfriend loves playing computer games and she'll definetly be playing ns 2. however, i only recall one female playing ns 1 regularly on the servers i used to frequent. unless she one of those 'females' were actually strange men pretending to be women.

that said, i once played counter-strike after my girlfriend has been playing, and my name was set as becky. the amount of attention i received from the other players was scary!

That's the two Reasons I leave female Models/Named Players alone. It's just not good because
a) Pretenders are laughing their arses off or
b) It's annoying the Girl behind screen, pissing off the maybe best Player on the Net.


I do that from Time to Time to show the Fellows a Lesson or Two, though.

in wow, I bet over 50% of the population is playing with female models, I got no real information to back this up with though, but at least in the guild I'm playing in (Forte on EU-Kazzak), we have only 10/35 male characters. You don't have to be a girl or feminine to enjoy playing a female character, just look at the success of games like Tomb Raider.
