I broke into a house today

<div class="IPBDescription">Im a rebel</div>Okay, to be fair it was my house.
Here's the story anyway, I got home from school a few hours early (AP testing) only to find that my parents had left and locked all the doors behind them ( they usually don't since my fathers business operates from inside the house, but he went on a business trip yesterday). So I figured, Ill just open up the garage door like usual.

Wait. The garage door is broken, the pull-chain broke on saturday. Apprently my mother forgot that when she left today and proceeded to still lock the doors... So here I'am, locked outside my house. I try and call my parents on their cellphones, but neither one seems to be on. I leave a few voice messages (along the lines of: "you guys realise I can't walk through walls right? You locked all the doors!").

So after loitering around my lawn for a few minutes, I spot my window, it's open.... On the second floor of the house. Terrific. There is an overhang over the front porch which leads to my window, the only issue is that it's about 11 feet off the ground.

So, after calling my parents a few more times with no luck I decide that against the laws of gravity and possibly my own safety, I will get into that window. I don't plan on wasting all my extra time-off today doing anything other then playing EvE-Online.

So I search my car for anything that could possibly make me..lets see... 6 feet taller. Nothing, sadly. I walk around the house in hopes of finding, I don't know, a ladder or something. However, on my second walk around the house I spot the perfect thing, there is a plastic shelving unit I've been using to organize pieces of a project Im working on (electric scooter, that's a story for another time). So after a bit of lifting and pulling, I set the down the rack infront of my house. It's pretty much the perfect height.

The only issue is that, standing anywhere near the top of it (Ill need to be on the very top shelf to get onto the roof) is pretty much completely terrifying. Not wanting to pre-maturely end my life on the stone walkway , I decided some reinforcements might be neccessary. Taking my dogs out-doot tether, I lashed the shelving unit to a support column of the porch and attempted to climb up it again.

You know, being 10 feet off the ground is alot higher when you are actually up there looking down. Anyway, to stop this story from being any longer, I jumped onto the roof (Literally, there was about 2 feet between the top shelf and the roof). I did a little dance after I made it up and proceeded to go in my open window. Luckily nobody called the cops on me, since it probably looked pretty sketchy.

So yeah, that was my day. You know, it felt pretty good sitting inside after having to expend effort to get inside.

That's nothing. I was deported from the US once, and the FBI has file on me.

I hopped a bush and slid open an unlocked window around the back side of my house, then wiggled through and dropped to the ground in a crouch. Certainly beats using the front door.

Man what, I wanted to play EvE. I wanted to be inside my house!

Besides, not everyone else got out of school early.

I had a similar problem last summer when my keys and wallet had been stolen that day (fun getting new ID's and such, another story as well), so when I got home I climbed onto the 2nd story by hoisting myself up using the lights hanging outside our garage, grabbing the gutter as the light broke off (I fixed it once I got inside, no one has noticed how loose it is yet...) and swung up onto the roof bending the gutter badly (also fixed badly but no one has noticed).

I finally got to my window to see the screen covering it would not come out. My window does not have a screen anymore as I was not giving up at that point <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Glad to see people are as determined as I was.

My house has two weak spots that I know of. It would certainly be interesting to try to get in without using either of those... But yeah, the garage has wroked for quite a while... and I practically always have my keys...
(College will get you to do that)

One of the entrances is the window at my bed. I'm waiting to convince some girl that she should come sneak into my room one night using that window since that would require climbing on top of me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

(No sneakiness is actually needed because my parents wouldn't really care, but it's for effect!)

I've broken into my house (while I still lived there), my places of work, my barracks squadbays, and my dorm rooms all at least 20+ times. Honestly I would give all that adventure to you if I had the chance to do it over, being locked out is a pain in the ######.

I forgot my keys once when I was in year 7, but somebody left a window open so I climbed on top of the big garbage bin and fell through onto a desk with lots of sharp things on it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Ya'll got me wondering, with all of these breakins and whatnot, doesn't anyone besides me have a security alarm in their home? If I was to try and break in to this house, the cops would be here before I could make it to the keypad... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

I have the code to my garage door, and we never lock the garage door. It's just never been neccessary.

Depot: Yeah we have one, we just almost never use it (infact I think part of it is broken). The window was open anyway though, so the alarm wouldn't have cared.

You have to tell that story.

I've broken into my house about 4 times, with two different methods. Pictures would help, so I'll take some when I get home.

I live in a condo, and we're on the second floor; so twice I went through the kitchen window which has a large gap under it leading to plants a story down. The other two times, I had to Prince of Persia my way onto the balcony. My neighbor's patio is right under our balcony and around it is a aqua-green fence(for privacy I guess). So I had to stand on it and stablize myself with my hands on the side of the balcony, but I still couldn't reach the top of the ledge to get a hold. Luckily my neighbor's AC stuck out of the wall near my feet and high enough for my to get the ledge, but it only sticks out so much; I wouldn't be able to stand on it. I had to place my foot on it and kick of and grab onto the top of the balcony for my dear life. I pulled myself up, and since we never lock the balcony door I got in.

heh, best one I have seen was my friend's BF got into her apt by climbing down the fire escape, getting 1 window over, and wedging himself through a tiny window (small guy). All b/c she locked the keys in side <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I've broken into my house, I just took a 30 year old wooden ladder that has uneven legs and put it against the wall. Then I climbed up the ladder into my room from a window with a screen. I then took some long object (forgot what) and poked it through the screen. I then somehow managed to push the screen up and get it off and jump into my room, all on that terrifying ladder.

    Thats how I broke into my house. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

So... how do you think you did on the test? I had no idea what the War Powers Resolution was, so I kind of blundered through that essay.

I broke in me own house once. And broke the window while prying it open. It kind of shattered while bending too much. I had forgotten to take my key outside with me and the door slammed shut on me. My dog was probably laughing a$$ off while looking at me trough the window <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I was just exaggerating, anyone that got deported from the US, the FBI has file on them I think.

I went to a college for 3 years, found out I'm not cut for engineering major, and I didn't like the college. Went back to my country for half a year, while applying for a new school and major. Got accepted, stupid me didn't read the fine print, my old VISA said I have 2 years before it expired. But the catch is, you have to be enrolled in a program... So, I flew to US to take a look at the new school.

Got deported right back at LA. 29 hours wasted on that round trip. And now every time I reenter US, the custom takes me to this stupid room for an interview before letting me in.

Last time I applied for my VISA extension, they asked me to do a fingerprint to send back to the Fed.

I have probably broke into my house like over 300 times... Since i have a bad habit of loosing my keys (And pretty much anything else)

One time I lost grip while climbing the balcony. I were sure I was going to die. Luckily I landed on my butt, so apart from a very painful experience, I was okay.

This thread reminds me, my wifes dog locked her outside the house today. I went to school and came back, she had to go through the basement window to get back in. She walked outside to look at something and the dog came up behind her and pushed the locked door closed (our door opens from the inside when its locked, everyone hates it)
